After nearly two decades of fans waiting for a proper sequel, Baldur's Gate 3 was revealed this past week during the Google Stadia presentation, the major tech company's introduction into the gaming space. The plans are set for the future of the Baldur's Gate franchise following its lengthy hiatus, and luckily fans will have much to look forward to once the third installment is available to play.

In an interview with IGN discussing the company's approach to platform exclusivity, Larian Studios revealed it plans to have over 100 hours of content for Baldur's Gate 3. Given the history of the series, most notably the second game, this lays the foundation for multiple expansions and DLC to build the base game off of, and with the backing of Google Stadia, Larian feels the partnership will serve to benefit its players.

Part of these benefits come from Stadia's emphasis on interconnectivity, allowing players to link up more easily with others. The ability for players to link up more easily, Larian says, will make the multiplayer portion of Baldur's Gate 3 a more enjoyable experience. Since the game will not be launching exclusively for Google Stadia and offers cross-play, this means there are more potential players to team up with, as the game will still release on PC across multiple digital markets.

Based on the history of Baldur's Gate, the quantity of content is a huge jump from what the two preceding base games offered a while back. According to playtime aggregate site How Long to Beat, the original Baldur's Gate's main story took on average 45 hours to beat, while the enhanced version of Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn clocked in at roughly 50 hours to complete. This means, excluding all expansion content the earlier games received, Baldur's Gate 3 has more to offer than the two preceding games combined.

We may get a better idea of the kind of content Baldur's Gate 3 will feature to hit the 100 hour mark sooner rather than later. That's because Baldur's Gate 3 will be at E3 2019 next week with more information to come.
