When it comes to animated feature films, industry titan Dreamworks Animation is one of the most legendary studios in Hollywood. Early next year, their catalog will see an expansion with their dastardly children's book series adaptation The Bad Guys, and the film has announced a list of well-known actors who will be bringing its characters to life.

The Bad Guys film is based on the eponymous graphic novel series by Aaron Blabey and was made in association with Scholastic Entertainment. The books tell the story of five tuxedo-clad anthropomorphic animals—Mr. Wolf, Mr. Shark, Mr. Snake, Mr. Pirahna, and Ms. Tarantula—who attempt to mend their reputations as villains by performing good deeds. The books have since landed on the New York Times Bestseller list and sold millions of copies around the world. Now, Dreamworks has put together an exciting list of voice actors for their feature film version of The Bad Guys. The cast will include Sam Rockwell, Awkwafina, Transformers 7 star Anthony Ramos, Marc Maron, and Craig Robinson as the titular Bad Guys, with supporting roles filled out by Zazie Beetz, Richard Ayoade, Lilly Singh, Elizabeth Banks, and none other than Alex Borstein, who famously voices Lois Griffin in Family Guy.

The Bad Guys is the feature directorial debut of Pierre Perifel, an animator from Lyon, France who worked in the animation department on many Dreamworks films and even directed the company's short film Bilby, which was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2018. The film is written by Tropic Thunder screenwriter Etan Cohen and Community co-executive producer Hilary Winston. Daniel Pemberton, who composed the music for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, will be writing the film's score. The Bad Guys will be one of two Dreamworks Animation releases of 2022, the other being hot-ticket sequel Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

The Bad Guys has truly gathered an inspired selection of performers for the titular group of characters. The cast, with voice credits on a variety of films including The One and Only IvanRaya and the Last DragonElena of Avalor, and Disenchantment, will surely be up the task of doing their part to make The Bad Guys a memorable film.

The Bad Guys releases in theaters on April 15th, 2022.
