Fans of the hit movie Back to the Future Part 2 were in an uproar when Netflix aired a censored version of the film.

Back to the Future Part 2 is a sequel of the immensely popular science fiction movie Back to the Future that released back in 1989. The film stars Michael J Fox as Marty McFly traveling through time to stop rival Biff Tanen from altering history.

The movie is now available to view on Netflix, but fans are angry over how it changed one aspect of the film. In the original film, Marty McFly flips through a magazine called "Ooh La La" with a provocative front cover to find a sports almanac. In the Netflix version, the cover of the magazine is edited out, and can't be seen at all.

According to insiders, this isn't Netflix's fault. Bob Gale, the screenwriter for all three movies, is quoted saying, "The blame is on Universal who somehow furnished Netflix an edited version of the movie, I learned about it some ten days ago from an eagle-eyed fan, and had the studio rectify the error. The version now running is the uncensored, unedited, original version."

Gale also defend Netflix by saying, "FYI, Netflix does not edit films--they only run the versions that are supplied to them. So they're blameless." He goes on to say "You can direct your ire at Universal, but I think they will be a lot more careful in the future--and with 'the future.'"

The version of the movie that Netflix received was one that was a foreign cut edited for lewd content. Gale doesn't go on to describe which country that version of the film belongs to. Gale and director Robert Zemeckis were not aware that this version of the movie exists and has requested that it be destroyed entirely. Perhaps Gale and Zemeckis should use the DeLorean to go back and take care of it themselves.
