Warner Bros. Games reveals all the benefits players can expect when purchasing the Ultimate Edition of Back 4 Blood. A list on the Back 4 Blood website showcases enticing items for fans of the upcoming cooperative game.

Developer Turtle Rock Studios describes the game as a cooperative first-person shooter set in a world of zombie horror. The emphasis on multiplayer and replayability will likely remind gamers of the team's other popular zombie game, Left 4 Dead. In Back 4 Blood, players take on the role of four heroes battling through hordes of vicious undead. As a multiplayer experience, it is no surprise that an Ultimate Edition is being promoted with a plethora of goodies.

First and foremost, the Back 4 Blood Ultimate Edition comes with the base game shown off at The Game Awards 2020. While this is part of all the purchasable formats, this version also includes 4-day early access. A common reward for game bundles, early access gives players a chance to hop into Back 4 Blood before launch. The game will have post-launch DLC, and fortunately, the Annual Pass will be part of the Ultimate Edition. This entails three downloadable content drops adding new stories, characters, special enemies, and more.

In comparison to the Digital Deluxe Edition, this top tier bundle packages some extra cosmetic items for the game. If players grab Back 4 Blood Ultimate Edition, they also gain access to a Battle-Hardened Character Skin pack. On top of that, there are additional in-game rewards like a Rare Banner, Emblem, Spray, and Title. For those ready to dive into the campaign and PvP zombie experience, picking up the Ultimate Edition will provide everything they need to get started.

When it comes to multiplayer games, companies offering bundles of varying tiers is nothing new. Though, in some cases, the rewards can seem unnecessary, calling into question whether paying more is worthwhile. The Back 4 Blood Ultimate Edition includes early access and the Annual Pass, so at least it adds playable content for the higher price. With these types of games relying on replayability, cosmetic rewards are key to keeping fans along for the ride. So throwing down a bit more cash to get a host of customizable options for profiles and characters will likely be worth it to some.

Of course, many players may view the Ultimate Edition benefits as being too little when looking at each tier. Fans could just pick up the Digital Deluxe Edition which also offers early access and the Annual Pass. Though exclusive DLC is the norm, players will probably wonder if these items are unlockable in-game. At the very least, Turtle Rock Studios is not including any gameplay altering benefits to the higher tier bundles, a good sign for preventing pay-to-win elements. Overall, Back 4 Blood is looking like one of the most anticipated horror games of 2021, and the Ultimate Edition provides plenty of content for fans.

Back 4 Blood is set to release on June 22, 2021, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
