Back 4 Blood, as an online multiplayer first-person shooter, puts squads against swarms of horrible creatures known as the Ridden. The game is host to a number of different weapons and attachments that players can use to continually upgrade their loadout.

From sights and scopes to silencers, Back 4 Blood gives players quite a few different choices to add to their weapons of choice. But how these attachments work and if they can be removed isn’t exactly clear. For those players looking to drop attachments in Back 4 Blood, this guide is here to help.

Can Attachments be Removed in Back 4 Blood?

Unfortunately, attachments cannot be straight-up removed from weapons once they are attached. Which makes the game a bit frustrating for those players who love the other features of Back 4 Blood. Instead, players are left with just a few options if they want to rid their favorite weapon of an attachment they don’t like.

In order to remove a specific attachment, a player has to either purchase or find a similar type of attachment and swap it out. This means a player who has accidentally added a silencer to their favorite rifle's barrel will have to find another barrel attachment in order to remove and replace it. Which can make even the best weapons in Back 4 Blood a bit of a chore for a short period of time.

How to Swap Attachments in Back 4 Blood

The first way to remove an attachment is at the very beginning of a level. When in the safe room at the start, a player can purchase a new attachment from the orange vendor crate for the in-game currency called Copper. This will swap out the new for the old and drop the unwanted item. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that the purchasable attachment will be a better option than the attachment the player wants to drop.

Another option for players opens up as a player is progressing through a level. Back 4 Blood’s levels and Acts are littered with healing items, additional ammo, different guns, and attachments. These appear both outside of and within crates on the map. Searching levels will likely present players with a few options with which they can swap their current attachment.

If an attachment is truly bothersome and a player wishes to rid themselves of it at any cost, they can swap out their gun with another. This will drop a player’s current weapon and all of its attachments and replace it with the new weapon. Unfortunately, this can be quite a difficult decision as a player improves their weapon throughout their run.

What are the different types of Attachments?

Attachments for weapons impact either the barrel, magazine, sights, or stock of the weapon. In Back 4 Blood, depending on the Corruption Cards drawn, some of these attachments can be quite advantageous. These attachments have their own levels of rarity and can improve one or more of 5 weapon categories:

1. Firepower

2. Range,

3. Accuracy,

4. Handling

5. Mobility.

Rarity levels correlate to the amount these attachments can improve a player's weapon. These attachments get swapped type for type. Before a player adds to a new area of their weapon they should carefully weigh its benefits and drawbacks. That is if they aren't currently under attack by one of the terrible creatures in Back 4 Blood.

Back 4 Blood is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
