One of the best things about Left 4 Dead was that it offered a ton of replayability, even if there were a limited number of levels for players to complete. Multiple difficulty levels and a slew of locations gave Horror-hungry gamers plenty to choose from when it came to the original title (and Left 4 Dead 2). So how exactly does Back 4 Blood stack up against its predecessor when it comes to length?
Thankfully, there's a lot to see and do in Back 4 Blood at launch, thanks to a lengthy campaign, robust multiplayer mode, and sliding difficulty scale. It even features a Solo Mode, although players are a bit disappointed with its current state and rewards system. Here's a look at just how much content developers packed into the base version of the game and how many acts there are in Back 4 Blood at launch.
How Many Acts Are In Back 4 Blood?
In its current state, there are four different acts for players to run through in Back 4 Blood's main campaign. This may not seem like much from the outside, but each act (except for the fourth) is split into multiple chapters, each with its own checkpoints and story elements. At launch, players will have 32 total levels to battle through, split amongst the four acts. Act One is 13 "levels" long, while Act Two features ten, and Act Three tops out at nine. Act Four is the only outlier to buck the trend, coming in at a single chapter/"level" albeit rather lengthy in its own right.
Here's how the current setup for Back 4 Blood looks, in terms of the main campaign:
Act One: Resurgence
- The Devil’s Return - Including: Resurgence, Tunnel of Blood, Pain Train, and The Crossing.
- Search & Rescue - Including: A Clean Sweep, Book Worms, and Bar Room Blitz.
- The Dark Before the Dawn - Including: Special Delivery, and The Diner.
- Blue Dog Hollow - Including: Bad Seeds, Hell’s Bells, Abandoned, and The Sound of Thunder.
Act 2: A Call to Arms
- The Armory - Including: A Call to Arms, and The Handy Man.
- Plan B - Including: Pipe Cleaners, Hinterland, Trailer Trashed, The Clog, and The Broken Bird.
- Job 10:22 - Including: Heralds of the Worm Part 1, Heralds of the Worm Part 2, and Grave Danger.
Act 3: Farther Afield
- Dr. Rogers Neighborhood - Including: Farther Afield, Blazing Trails, Cabins by the Lake, Garden Party, and T-5.
- Remnants - Including: A Friend in Need, Making the Grade, The Road to Hell, and The Body Dump.
Act 4: The Abomination
That's the entire setup for the campaign at launch, but it will be interesting to see what Back 4 Blood adds in the upcoming months. Those that enjoyed Left 4 Dead will definitely enjoy Back 4 Blood's similar gameplay, and should find a lot more customization with character upgrades, skins, and cards.
