Fans of the Left 4 Dead series have a new adventure to run and gun through with Back 4 Blood. The newest installment in the first-person-shooting horror-survival genre from Turtle Rock Studios (the original developers for Left 4 Dead) is shaping up to be bigger, better, and bolder than the "series" has ever been. It's familiar enough for fans of the gameplay style to feel right at home, while still offering enough differences to feel like a new experience.

One new development (compared to Left 4 Dead) is the addition of Supply Points. These points are awarded to players and act as a currency, giving them a reason to redo missions, grind out achievements, and just help to boost the overall replayability of the title in general. Here's a look at how to get Supply Points in Back 4 Blood, what they're for, and how often they're awarded.

What Are Supply Lines?

Back 4 Blood Supply Line Detailed

Supply Lines are an interesting addition to Back 4 Blood that gives players an opportunity to unlock vanity items and new cards for their characters. From the start, players are given one Supply Line to complete, as sort of an introduction to the concept, and then are free to choose from three separate lines to work on. These lines have nodes that can be unlocked with Supply Points. Each node will have a different item present and unlocking all nodes within a given line will complete that Supply Line and replace it with a new one. As nodes are unlocked, items begin to get more and more expensive.

It's a great addition to the title, offering solid rewards for players while also increasing the replayability of the campaign and multiplayer modes.

How To Earn Supply Points

There seems to be quite a bit of stuff to unlock at launch and it's safe to assume developers will be adding new items via supply lines in the future. To make it through all these lines and get their hands on as many unlockables as possible, players will need to amass a ton of Supply Points.

Thankfully, earning Supply Points is pretty simple in Back 4 Blood. Players will be rewarded with the currency after each successful chapter/level they complete. The amount of Supply Points scales up with the difficulty level as follows:

  • Recruit: 25 - 40 Supply Points per level.
  • Veteran: Around twice as much as players would receive at Recruit difficulty.
  • Nightmare: Around 50 percent more than players would receive at Veteran difficulty.

Players can also receive Supply Points by completing Accomplishments. These achievement-like quests reward players with copious amounts of Supply Points and many of them are as simple as progressing through the campaign. Finishing Act one, for example, will give players at least 200 of the currency.

One important, and unfortunate, thing to note is that Supply Points and Accomplishments are ONLY obtainable in multiplayer. Sadly, as of writing, players are not able to collect these rewards from the Solo Campaign. Hopefully, developers will give those that want to play Solo a way to get their hands on Supply Points in the near future.
