Tony Stark has worn quite a few different armors as the armored Avenger known as Iron Man over the years, both in the comics and on the big screen, as the brilliant inventor is continually reinventing his and his teammate's costumes with advanced technology, which features heavily into Square Enix's Marvel's Avengers.

The members of the Avengers have a number of outfits available in the game, with the team even receiving advanced versions of their own costumes created by Stark. But out of all of the outfits available for Iron Man that either adapted classic comic costumes or created original takes on his armor, which suit seen in Marvel's Avengers is the best?

10 Verity

The Verity armor is one of the more streamlined armor designs in Marvel's Avengers, which offers a few different builds of the Iron Man armor that are then further customizable with colors and patterns found throughout the game.

Iron Man's Verity outfit is available through purchase at the Cosmetic Vendors that can be found throughout the game, and while it's far sleeker than the comic book counterpart, the coloring of this outfit might remind fans of Stark's Silver Centurion/Briefcase armor.

9 Obsidian

Fans who purchased the Deluxe Edition of Marvel's Avengers received a unique outfit for each of the Avengers that united the team with new matching uniforms that were tailored to each individual hero under the Obsidian banner.

Iron Man's unique Obsidian armor featured the themed silver and grey color scheme laid over the Iconic armor that the character wears in most of the promotional materials for the game, making it a unique armor to add to Stark's already huge armory.

8 Stark Tech

As previously mentioned, one of the key moments in the game features an upgrade to the various team members by Iron Man, who fashions highly-advanced Stark Tech into each of their respective uniforms, amping up their already impressive abilities.

Iron Man's evolved Stark Tech upgrade features his iconic red and gold color scheme in a streamlined but powerful-looking version of his main game armor, though it also calls back to the design of his advanced space armor that he wore while working with the Guardians of the Galaxy in the comics.

7 Epiphany

The Iron Man armor has a few different models to choose from that highlight the various design stages of Stark's most powerful weapon, with the Prototype and Makeshift outfits showcasing Tony's earliest attempts at creating his finished armor.

However, it's the Epiphany outfit that furthers those builds by adding the usual color motif while still featuring the industrial nature of the armor that makes the outfit look both powerful and dangerous.

6 Intergalactic

The Intergalactic armor can be acquired by progressing through the Challenge Cards that are available to players throughout the game and is a modified version of the bulkier Starboost armor that appears in the story (more on that soon).

While the design of the armor itself gives the character an oversized build that feels a bit more powerful in gameplay than the Iconic outfit, it also features an amazing paint job that transitions from red to gold, making the light and dark greys of the armor pop even more.

5 Anodized

The Anodized outfit's name implies that the skin of this Iron Man armor has been thickened using a specific process that strengthens the metal and reduces corrosion, however, that isn't what makes the outfit so appealing to fans of the character.

The dark coloring of the Anodized outfit (which can be unlocked through further Challenge Card progression) calls back to Iron Man's fan-favorite Stealth armor from the comics, which gave a similar color shift to Stark's classic armor along with other advanced capabilities.

4 Original Sin

While Tony Stark's most iconic armor features the classic red and gold color motif that also featured in the live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe version of the character, it wasn't the only design he tried out over the years.

The Original Sin armor features the black and gold armor that first appeared during the Marvel NOW title relaunch that also included the titular comic event for which this outfit is named. The armor was short-lived in the comics, but thankfully Marvel's Avengers gives the suit another chance.

3 Starboost

While the Stark Tech outfit replicated Iron Man's more recent space armor from the comics, Marvel's Avengers introduced a new version of his interstellar armor that first appeared as one of many new armors introduced during Iron Man 3.

The white and grey armor featured gold accents and was much bulkier than his other streamlined versions for obvious reasons, though the Starboost armor never had much of a chance to shine in the film, which makes it a very welcomed appearance in the game.

2 Gunmetal

Much like the previously mentioned Epiphany armor that highlighted some of the earlier stages of Tony Stark's design of the Iron Man armor, the Gunmetal outfit adjusts the color scheme very specifically to highlight another armored Marvel hero.

While James "Rhodey" Rhodes doesn't actually appear in Marvel's Avengers (yet), the Gunmetal outfit allows players to adopt the familiar grey and white armor of War Machine while they wait for the leaked future arrival of the character in upcoming DLC.

1 Iron Will

There are a number of armor options for players looking to explore the earliest stages of his greatest creation, though players who pre-ordered Marvel's Avengers received an exclusive Legacy edition of costumes that were inspired by the character's origins.

The Iron Will outfit is another stage in the game version of Stark's development of the Iron Man armor and features the prototype version of the bulkier space armor designs with an overcharged arc reactor in the chest that features welded panels of armor that further highlights the ingenuity of Stark's Iron Man armor.
