The world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra is set to grow even larger soon thanks to Netflix's live-action adaptation and the slew of projects that are being produced by Avatar Studios. Viewers are preparing to be whisked off once again on an adventure through the elements as they watch Avatars like Avatar Kyoshi fight to save the world from whatever threat is trying to destroy it. It feels like a really great time to be an Avatar: The Last Airbender fan, and that same energy should be brought to the video game industry.

There are very few games that take place in the world of Avatar, and some of the ones that have been released are no longer purchasable due to rights issues. The world of Avatar deserves to shine in a series of video games, and these games should be far more than simple adaptations. While Avatar Studios expands the world through various animated projects, the video game industry should expand it through numerous video games set across the eras. There are so many Avatars just waiting to be explored, and fans want to be able to play as these powerful forces. It should start with Avatar Kyoshi.

Avatar Kyoshi Has a Very Interesting Story

Avatar Kyoshi

Avatar Kyoshi has quickly become a fan-favorite Avatar even though she has not been the protagonist of any Avatar show to date. She first appeared as a statue in Avatar: The Last Airbender and then was further referenced in episodes of both The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. Recently, she has headlined a series of novels that have chronicled her time as the Avatar and provided a much more in-depth backstory for fans to enjoy.

Avatar Kyoshi was the Earth Kingdom Avatar that came before Roku. She was the daughter of a renegade Air Nomad named Jesa and a thief named Hark. Her parents left her abandoned, and she was raised by a man named Kelsang. Her friend Yun had been named Avatar, but when Kyoshi turned sixteen it was revealed that she was actually the Avatar. Yun was then sacrificed, and Kelsang was killed by the ruler of the Earth Kingdom which forced Kyoshi to go on the run. She became embroiled in the criminal underworld, and would eventually eliminate the ruler of the Earth Kingdom. Her life and actions would end up shaping her role as the Avatar, and she decided that only justice could bring peace.

Unlike some other Avatars in the Nickelodeon series, Kyoshi had no problem killing her enemies. She would use a combination of element bending and a pair of metallic war fans to ensure peace. Her actions helped usher the world into a long period of unprecedented peace, and many would honor her for this. However, her actions would also lead to the eventual collapse of the Earth Kingdom well after her death.

A Kyoshi Game Could Be Exactly What Fans Need

Avatar Kyoshi is a unique Avatar who lived in an interesting period of the Avatar world. Many fans have grown to love her over the years, and have been calling for a project that follows her for a while now. While there are rumors that Avatar Studios may be working on an Avatar Kyoshi project, her story could also make for a really fun and engaging Avatar video game that treads new ground. Giving players control over the powerful Kyoshi and letting them actually see her story play out could be a lot of fun, letting them influence major events in Avatar history while learning new things about the world around them.

The Last Airbender has never had major success with video games, but that could all change with an original story set in an unexplored period of time. Kyoshi is a fan-favorite character, and she played an instrumental role in preventing major conflicts during her time. It could lead to a very interesting narrative that follows her heartbreaking upbringing, and showcases the things she had to do to achieve this era of peace and prosperity. Avatar: The Last Airbender deserves to shine in both the TV and in the video game industry, and Kyoshi may be the one to deliver what fans have been waiting for.
