James Cameron is working hard at building out the Avatar franchise more than a decade after the release of his groundbreaking film. It was recently announced that Stephen Lang will be returning as the villain for the upcoming sequels, and as such was included in table reads for the sequel scripts.
Lang, who will also be reprising his role as a deadly blind man in Don't Breathe 2, must have found something in the script for Avatar 5 that hit home because he said that he couldn't help but cry at how beautiful the story was.
In an interview with Collider, Lang said that he was "weeping" after reading the final script. The actor had plenty of praise for Cameron's storytelling as well as his ability to solve complex problems on set. These problems cause delays and halts in production which causes the film's further delay. Mostly it deals with scale, as many know these films require an intense amount of technology and money in order to deliver spectacular visuals.
Avatar has been through a tremendous amount of pushback due to its big scope and on top of that, it has its story extended beyond what it initially had intended. James Cameron appears to really care about this franchise and wants to cement its legacy in cinematic history. The number of years put into it will hopefully be worth the wait for fans eagerly waiting for the sequel.
Ubisoft will also be developing a first-person open-world video game titled Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora which will supposedly be released in 2022 which will be the second Avatar game developed by Ubisoft. Many are uncertain about the plot or its connections but they're excited about the promises of Ubisoft as they're known for making open-world games.
It's also worth noting that Ubisoft games have a very similar format so hopefully Ubisoft gets more into their creative bag that they were known for during their earlier years in order to create something innovative for both gamers as well as film fans alike. This is an immense world with plenty of lore so having a solid game to progress the story while fans wait for the movie will be a trailblazing feat on its own.
