Auto Chess remains a massively popular game across the world, though its western player base pales compared to its eastern. The auto-battler based on a hugely popular Dota 2 mod spun off into its own project in 2019 from the mod's original developers. Now, it seems, Auto Chess is coming full circle. Drodo Studio has now announced that it's working on a new game with publisher Dragonest. That game appears to be a MOBA based on the Auto Chess property.

That's right, the Auto Chess game that was originally a mod of MOBA Dota 2 is now going to be made into a MOBA of its own. An official title has not been revealed for the project as of yet. It's only referred to as Auto Chess MOBA. It'll feature all of the characters that Auto Chess players are already familiar with, naturally, and will feature some Dota 2-like features including the ability to destroy objects like trees in-game. No release window was confirmed alongside the announcement.

The only other details confirmed as part of the new MOBA game announcement have to do with monetization. The Auto Chess MOBA will not only feature all of Auto Chess' heroes, but it will make them available to players for free. Games like League of Legends, for example, charge players to unlock new characters. Runes will also be made available for free.

One other detail that wasn't detailed is which platforms the Auto Chess MOBA will be coming to. Auto Chess is particularly popular on mobile devices, which could imply that the Auto Chess MOBA will be a mobile-focused game. A PC version would be expected beyond that. Fans will just have to wait for more official information in the months to come to find out for sure.

Auto Chess MOBA is currently in development.
