It's official, Aubrey Plaza will be joining the MCU in Agatha: Coven of Chaos. The Parks and Recreation alum will reunite with another alum from the same show, Kathryn Hahn, who is the lead in the new Disney Plus spin-off series.
With Disney and Marvel Studios keeping things very hush at the moment, fans have been gifted with another exciting casting surprise. While fans know for sure that the series is set to take place after Agatha's defeat, they have been speculating that there will be more witches that Agatha may encounter in Coven of Chaos. In WandaVision, Agatha was hungry to become the most powerful witch on the planet, a.k.a. the Scarlet Witch. When Agatha realizes Wanda is the Scarlet Witch, she comes up with a plan to mess with Wanda's perfectly happy dystopian world to gain her trust and figure out how Wanda's powers really work. It should be a no-brainer that the Coven of Chaos plot will possibly be about Agatha's journey to becoming more powerful.
The Illuminerdi broke the news about Plaza joining Agatha: Coven of Chaos, though the report only described her role as being part of "a group of supporting female characters." Deadline then reported that Plaza will play a villain, but details on her character were not provided. Marvel Studios and Disney have become especially strict in recent months when it comes to revealing actors and the characters they will play. Even Plaza's representatives declined to speak to top entertainment news outlets, leaving many fans in the dark.
Of course, this is all out of love for the fans and to stop spoilers for Marvel Studios' projects from leaking, which has often happened in the past. This isn't the first time Plaza and Hahn have worked together. The two brought laughter to many when they starred in the hit comedy series Parks and Recreation. Another thing fans can carefully speculate is that we may get a bit of that dark humor from the two - Agatha: Coven of Chaos is a show about cool witches, after all.
However, Hahn gave fans a fun insider scoop when she revealed that Agatha: Coven of Chaos will begin filming this month, and the series is set to stream sometime in winter 2023. With everyone keeping the production of this series under wraps, it looks like fans will have to wait for anything that comes their way, whether that be a teaser or a star who gets the ok to tweet something that will give the public hints.
While many feel like they have been left in the dark, that doesn't change the fact that Hahn has made Agatha a fun, witty, villain to follow. Could this be Disney Plus' best-kept secret yet? Well, the only way to find out will be next winter.
