It's easy to see why this is the case, given the insane twists and turns this manga has taken over time. The series is filled to the brim with some of the most mind-blowing moments and awesome reveals ever seen in an anime, and fans can't wait to witness the conclusion of this epic anime when Part 3 comes next year. Here are some of the best and most intense scenes the anime graced us with over the course of its run.

10 Eren's Mother Being Eaten By A Titan

Eren's life took a tragic turn when the Marleyan Warriors destroyed Shiganshina's gate and left it vulnerable to a Titan assault. He tried his hardest to go back home and save his mother but ultimately failed.

Instead, he was carried away by Hannes and was forced to see as Dina Fritz's Titan took his mother and ate her alive. It was a harrowing moment that shaped Eren's character and motivations for the rest of the series.

9 The Colossal Titan Appearing Behind Eren

The colossal titan from Attack on Titan

The Colossal Titan is one of the most iconic Titans in the entire series. It wastes no time in letting viewers know that its appearance is mainly to cause wanton destruction, with its second appearance being all the more iconic.

Watching Eren reflect back on the events that have transpired only for this Titan to appear behind Eren made for a great moment indeed. He might've disappeared fairly quickly, but this appearance was pretty chilling regardless.

8 Eren Being Devoured By A Titan

Watching Eren striving to fight and defeat the Titans was a pretty great moment indeed...right up until his leg was chomped by a Titan that came from nowhere. It was a moment that showed that these Titans were too savage to be tackled without enough expertise.

Watching Armin being grabbed and almost eaten by a Titan was pretty harrowing, until Eren came in to save the day at the cost of his own life. While he did come back after transforming into the Attack Titan, this moment was pretty convincing and made viewers believe that Eren was gone for good.

7 Annie Being Revealed As The Female Titan

In a bid to try and fish out the double agents, the Survey Corps mounted a mission that was pretty risky. While trying to use Eren as bait, they found a new Titan that had entered the fray — the Female Titan.

This Titan was revealed to be Annie, who used her fighting style to great effect against Eren. Trying to capture her only for Annie to become the Female Titan in Stohess District made for a chilling moment indeed.

6 Reiner And Bertholdt Revealing Their True Identities

Reiner and Bertholdt transforming in Attack on Titan

After capturing Annie, Hange revealed to the group that the Armored and Colossal Titans were probably Reiner and Bertholdt. However, before the Survey Corps could try and capture these two individuals, Reiner decided to play his cards after suffering a mental breakdown of sorts.

In a last-ditch attempt to try and abduct Eren, Reiner and Bertholdt transformed in one of the best moments in the anime. The ensuing fight was great to witness even if it ended in the defeat of the Survey Corps.

5 Armin Sacrificing Himself To Capture Bertholdt

Armin coming back as the Colossal Titan in Attack on Titan

Armin is one of the bravest characters in the entire show, even though he might seem timid at first glance. His intelligence helped humanity win against the Titans time and time again...especially during their battle against the three invading Titans.

Abducting the Colossal Titan was the biggest struggle, and Armin formulated a plan that would endanger his own life. Had it not been for the Titan serum, Armin would've breathed his last in one of the most emotional moments in the entire show as he wasted Bertholdt's steam powers with his own body.

4 Eren Transforming In Liberio

The Final Season is where Attack on Titan truly went off the rails in the most brilliant manner imaginable. Everything started with Eren's transformation in Liberio, just as Willy Tybur was declaring war on Paradis Island.

It was a shocking moment that showed just how much Eren had changed. He was perfectly fine with being a catalyst to a similar kind of destruction that had led to his mom dying in Shiganshina.

3 Gabi Shooting And Killing Sasha

Sasha's death in Attack on Titan

Gabi is one of the newer characters introduced after the time skip. A lot of people hate this character, mainly because of what she did to Sasha.

After killing one of the Survey Corps soldiers and getting on the airship, Gabi quickly jumped in with Falco and fatally shot Sasha. It was a gut punch for many — no pun intended — mainly because everyone assumed that this bloody assault had reached its end.

2 Zeke Turning People Into Titans During The Marleyan Counterattack

The Beast Titan's scream in Attack on Titan

During the Marleyan Counterattack, Eren is put against the ropes by the assault...until Zeke finally manages to appear and save his younger brother. It was a great moment, and even Zeke getting shot down didn't stop Eren from trying to make contact with his brother.

In a bid to distract everyone and make his job easier, Zeke decided to use his roar and turn everyone who drank the spinal fluid into Titans. It was a chilling moment, with long-time characters like Nile and Pyxis turning into mindless Titans through no fault of their own.

1 Eren And Ymir Activating The Rumbling

The Rumbling in Attack On Titan

The Rumbling was a threat that loomed over the rest of the world for the longest time. After Eren got the power of the Founding Titan, it seemed that it was only a matter of time until this apocalyptic event would come to pass.

This was precisely the case, with Eren going against Zeke's will and appealing to Ymir's individuality. It was a powerful moment that culminated in the initiation of the Rumbling — the consequences of which will only be seen properly in Part 3 of the final season.
