Atomic Heart's new trailer has revealed that the game will release on February 21, 2023. Atomic Heart made a big splash when it was revealed all the way back in 2018, appealing to fans of shooters set in alternate versions of history similar to BioShock or Wolfenstein with its bizarre take on 1950s Russia. The game made an even bigger name for itself when it appeared at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase in 2021, where it was revealed that it will be joining Xbox Game Pass at launch. Now fans know exactly when that will be.

Atomic Heart comes from Russian developer Mundfish, and is the studio's first major title. The game is set to be a first-person shooter with RPG elements set in an alternate version of 1955 Russia in which the USSR has defeated Nazi Germany through advanced technology and robotics. This makes the Soviet Union the leading global power after the events of World War 2, but after reports begin to emerge of robots conducting experiments on humans in a secret facility, a KGB agent is sent to investigate.

The newly released trailer not only reveals Atomic Heart's release date of February 21, 2023, but more of the game's enemies and powers, furthering comparisons to BioShock. Developer Mundfish has described the game as "way crazier" than its competition, likely explaining why the game has suffered multiple delays since its reveal. This seems to be the end, however, as the trailer showcases an optimistic level of polish and the release date appears to be set in stone.

Atomic Heart's February 2023 release date places it directly what already seems to be one of the busiest months of the year. On the week of its release alone, other anticipated titles such as Like a Dragon: Ishin, the PlayStation VR2, and its selection of launch titles will be released, as well as Square Enix's HD-2D RPG Octopath Traveler 2. The same month however, Hogwarts Legacy, Dead Island 2, and Wild Hearts are expected to release among others. Needless to say 2023 is looking to hit the ground running with an exciting slate of games.

Atomic Heart's launch on Game Pass also sets a good precedent for the service in 2023, as 2022 has suffered its periods of new release droughts, especially in the early half of the year. In the first half of 2023 alone, Atomic Heart will join Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Starfield, Redfall, Forza Motorsport, Persona 4 Golden, Persona 3 Portable, and even more expected to join Game Pass, making it possibly the most exciting year that the subscription service has had yet.

Atomic Heart will launch on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 21st 2023.
