Those who are still playing Atomic Heart will be pleased to know that patch 1.6.0.0 has been released, with this latest update bringing a few tweaks to the first-person shooter, including improvements to the game's dialogue and overall game stability. Taking influence from games like BioShock and Fallout 4, Mundfish's sci-fi shooter offered up a dose of high-impact action combined with a story set in an alternate reality, though it didn't seem to hit the mark quite like the releases it took cues from.

In any case, the developer has been keeping on top of things by delivering frequent updates for Atomic Heart, the most recent one being version 1.5.0.0, which fixed a few bugs and added in Japanese voiceover work. The fact that the game takes place in an alternative version of the Soviet Union, with a post-World War 2 backdrop, has marred the otherwise unique action title as some felt the studio's maiden release was erring towards insensitivity, particularly in the face of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

That aside, Mundfish is still dedicated to keeping Atomic Heart in good shape as the newest patch has been released. This time around, it seems to be a somewhat smaller series of changes, but they all go to lengths to make for a better experience. According to the game's Steam page, there have been some improvements to the dialogue, which includes adjusting the length and place/time of activation, as well as a modified FOV setting. The update also fixes some "rare issues" with save files and improves the game's stability, though the patch notes don't go into detail about what that entails.

The patch notes also list some advice on what players should do if they are experiencing any issues, such as updating drivers and checking the integrity of the game on Steam. With Atomic Heart DLC on the horizon, dedicated fans will have some additional content to look forward to, with a recent teaser hinting at what's to come. Unfortunately, there's no release date for this DLC other than it's expected to drop sometime this summer.

Atomic Heart got somewhat mixed reviews and wasn't to everyone's taste, with some finding protagonist Agent P-3 rather unlikable, not to mention the controversy that followed in the game's wake. Developer Mundfish had some clear inspiration for its first foray into gaming that could have made it a hit, but hopefully the studio will be able to hit the ground running for its next release, which may well be a sequel.
