Atomic Heart is the highly anticipated first-person shooter developed by Mundfish. The game takes place in a retro-futuristic USSR that won World War 2. Players take control of Major Comrade Sergei Nechaev(codenamed P-3) as he fights off a robotic revolution taking place in Facility 3826. Atomic Heart combines shooting and melee combat in gameplay that harkens back to Bioshock/System Shock.

There is also exploration and many types of puzzles to be solved throughout Facility 3826. Some of these puzzles involve the various types of locks present throughout the game. This guide will explain each type of lock and how to open them.

Standard Locks

The lockpicking mechanic on these normal locks will be familiar to players of Fallout or Skyrim.

  • Use the left stick to adjust the glove's wires.
  • Press A/X to turn the lock.

The keyhole needs to turn completely horizontal so adjust until it can turn all the way to open the lock.

Combination Locks

These locks will require the player to find a combination. They will usually be found in the same area as the lock itself so check nearby locations. Look on desks and walls for combinations written on pieces of paper or signs.

  • Find the combination.
  • Input the combination using the cursor to click on the correct lights.

Pay attention to the four quadrants and patterns of the combinations. The lights have to be turned on in the correct sequence and the correct quadrant on the lock's face.

Snap Locks

Certain locks require the player to snap with precise to timing to lights on each pin.

  • Press A/X to snap when the red light is on an extended pin.
  • Turn the lock once all pins have retracted.

The timer on the lock will reset all the pins if time runs out. Pay close attention as snapping when the light is on a closed pin will extend it once again.

Color Locks

To open these locks the correct colors need to be lined up with the corresponding pins.

  • Use the trigger buttons to bring the lights down to the bottom of the circle and press A/X to flip their positions if necessary.
  • Use the trigger buttons to align the colors with the correct pins.

Certain locks will require an actual key that P-3 will refer to playfully as a "cookie."

  • Find the key nearby.
  • Insert the key to open the lock.

The cookies should be in the general vicinity of the lock. Keep an eye out in the offices of Facility 3826 for them.
