A fun new Atomic Heart update gives fans a deep dive into Facility 3826, the setting in which the game takes place. Mundfish wrote out a detailed post giving more information about what each game location entails and what players will possibly find there. New Atomic Heart visuals were also included.

Mundfish has been highly active when it comes to updating fans on the game’s progress and potential. Atomic Heart gameplay and trailers as well as boss fights have been the highlight of previous updates, with fan reception being overwhelmingly positive so far. Prior to the Facility 3826 deep dive, previous Atomic Heart location screenshots were released on the game's official Twitter.

The latest text update opens with Facility 3826’s one rule: “Real progress lies precisely at the confluence of the basic sciences, for that is how Nature works – it is all intertwined.” Complexes within the location were detailed as being “shaped by its research needs.” The screencaps included offer a closer look into what the unique world Atomic Heart has to offer, with the complexes being no exception. Some complexes even allow common citizens to enter them, so they’re not limited in exploration.

The open world of Atomic Heart is described as “near utopian.” However, the post mentions that players will explore “cold gloomy corridors, creepy labs, and automated workshops roamed by hostile robots.” The foothills of Facility 3826 will contain several places for players to explore. It is the home of underground complexes and labs, research centers, civilian facilities, and more. Players will be able to visit the locations “one by one” and learn about the locals while they figure out the research facility’s dark secret.

There’s always an eerie feeling hidden in the subtext of each detail provided, adding to the horror Atomic Heart will provide. At the end, the post mentions that Facility 3826 also contains automated robots that are “connected to a single neural network,” and that players must not forget that their enemies are “constantly watching.” Mundfish’s update ends on a funny note by telling fans that it hopes they can still relax regardless of that creepy piece of information.

No doubt Mundfish plans to go all out with lore and gameplay details in its primary location for Atomic Heart. The previously released screenshots further showcased what the company has been diligently working on, further building expectations in the locations mentioned above. Such detail and planning for the game will hopefully deliver a rich gaming experience in a brand-new sci-fi world that holds a darker secret beyond its beautiful utopian facade. Only time will tell. Fans will find out next year if Atomic Heart’s sci-fi action and exploration are worth the exciting buildup on Mundfish’s part.

Atomic Heart releases on February 21, 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
