There are a few things that fans of Koei Tecmo and Gust’s Atelier series won’t be getting with its next installment, Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and The Secret Fairy. Namely, a physical version of the game for PS5, since that’s been scrapped. Luckily, the game itself will have plenty of extra content to offer them instead when it arrives.

With Atelier Ryza 2 quickly nearing its January launch date, Koei Tecmo released a new trailer highlighting some of the activities players will be able to take part in outside of the JRPG’s main turn-based combat and alchemy-based crafting. It starts with a look at the game’s photo mode and shows off some of the filters and frames players will be able to choose from, along with the poses and expressions they can set for each character. What’s more, new frames will be added in future updates.

The trailer then shows off Ryza’s blob-like Puni companions, which players will be able to level up and send out on trips to gather items, increasing their chances of finding rare items. Players will also be able to personalize the inside of Ryza’s atelier with a variety of furniture and decorations, and Koei Tecmo says that players will be able to affect things like the weather in different ways depending on how they change up the atelier.

Rounding things off, the trailer ends with a glimpse at the bonus costumes that players can unlock. These include the pre-order-exclusive Summer Fashion Costume Set, the Classic Costume Set for anyone with save data from the first game, and more exclusive items for the different editions of Atelier Ryza 2 that will be available soon.

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and The Secret Fairy will be released on January 26, 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Switch.
