Atari is getting back into the gaming console business with the release of its new console Atari VCS 800, which is launching this fall. After several delays, some of which were due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the console is now set to release on November 27. Atari also announced that the console will be arriving with its own cryptocurrency as well.

The currency is called Atari Tokens and will be used to buy games for the Atari VCS console once it is released. Atari stated that the goal of the Atari Token is to create a token for the gaming industry that is applicable to other platforms. The company is planning to integrate the currency with its games and other services, such as Atari Casino.

The Atari Tokens will be sold for 25 cents to retail investors on Bitcoin.com at the tail end of October 29. Atari is planning to sell approximately $1 million worth of Atari tokens at the start, which will be used to buy games and in-game purchases. Atari plans to extend the tokens' use well after the Atari VCS's release and have it used in the rest of the gaming industry.

The company intends to bridge the crypto market with the video gaming industry, making it more accessible to as many platforms and gamers as possible. Atari is working in collaboration with various partners including Bitcoin.com Exchange, LiteCoin Foundation, Chain Games, and more. The company is using its own website in conjunction with Atari Wallet and more to create an Atari blockchain environment centered around the company's brand. The goal is to slowly but surely introduce this system to gamers and gradually immerse users with the Atari tokens.

The company doesn't plan to leave customers and gamers in the dark, and is teaming up with Bitcoin Exchange to plan an awareness campaign promoting the new cryptocurrency and how to use it. The campaign will be conducted through interviews, guides, media casting, and other relevant forms of marketing to reach audiences.

The CEO of Atari Chain, Frédéric Chesnais, would go on to compliment the partnership between both groups working on furthering "mass adoption of the Atari Token," stating that the goal of this venture is to provide the ultimate experience for both the interactive entertainment industry and video gaming industry.

Danish Chaudry, the Head of Bitcoin Exchange, added that both groups plan to propel this initiative through the launch of the latest IEO platform. Through the platform, the companies will be able to push the marketing campaign to both industries to inform traders and the respective communities about the Atari Token. Atari has big plans for the Atari Token beyond the Atari VCS 800 and is playing the long game.
