Right now, there are a lot of rumors and leaks out there about Assassin’s Creed Valhalla year 2. Ubisoft has already confirmed AC Valhalla DLC 3 will release before March 2022, but it also seems that this will just be the first step into a new year’s worth of content. With a new season pass rumored to be in the works, it could be that Year 2 of DLC is even bigger than year 1.
However, one thing does stand out: it seems to be going in the exact opposite direction of year one. With Wrath of the Druids and The Siege of Paris, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was following its own mostly-historical path through history, but with the rumors of year 2, it seems Valhalla is following the same road as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

It’s worth mentioning that Odyssey’s two DLCs, Legacy of the First Blade and Fate of Atlantis, were episodic in nature but still told one core story. At their core, Wrath of the Druids, The Siege of Paris, and Legacy of the First Blade take a historical approach, meaning AC Valhalla and Odyssey were already similar in this regard. There was one key difference though: Legacy of the First Blade used history to tell an Assassin story, whereas Wrath of the Druids and The Siege of Paris continued the game’s focus on Viking history. The most Assassin-y the DLC so far gets is the mysterious ‘A.C’ character in Siege of Paris.
Ergo, though slightly similar in approach, the execution of the first two DLCs made Assassin’s Creed Valhalla seem as if it were going to steer away from the Present-Day heavy, mythological aspects of AC Odyssey’s DLC. After all, the earliest rumors believed Assassin’s Creed Valhalla would be going to Africa next, but that seems to have changed. It seems Valhalla is actually embracing the mythological aspects of the franchise in its Year 2 content, not unlike Odyssey's Fate of Atlantis DLC.

Although one DLC, the Fate of Atlantis took players to the titular location, Elysium, and the Underworld. It was super heavy on Greek mythology, with players encountering Hades, Poseidon, Persephone, and even Juno and Aita. It didn’t seem at first that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was going to take its mythological elements further, but now it does.
Everything leaked thus far about the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Dawn of Ragnarok expansion points to a trip to Svartalfheim, where players will be facing new mythological bosses, saving dwarves, and far more. And, while this is just speculation, it seems the aforementioned Africa rumor likely lined up with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Muspelheim. Indeed, one leaked Dawn of Ragnarok expansion feature is called Sinmara’s Champions, with Sinmara being a consultant to Surtur, the fire giant of Muspelheim.
In other words, while anything after DLC 3 is a big question mark, there are plenty of rumors and potential suggestions that Year 2 will see Assassin’s Creed Valhalla go to Svartalfheim and Muspelheim, just like Odyssey went to some mythical realms. It all does remain to be seen, but fans will likely learn more in the coming months, if not weeks.
