Those already deep into the Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Wrath of the Druids expansion are likely doing all that they can to find all the new weapon locations. That said, there's one among all of them catching the attention of dedicated Valhalla warriors, and that's the Gae Bolg Mythical Spear.

Spears already have some crazy long reach and penetrative power, making them absolutely worth learning how to use. With the Gae Bolg in particular, it boasts an insane 107 attack and 122 stun, and to top it off, it strikes enemies with a lightning shock following three consecutive hits. Combined with the Druidic Armor set, most enemies in the game become an absolute breeze, or at least, are nowhere near as intimidating as before.

How to Get the Gae Bolg Mythical Spear in Wrath of the Druids

Getting this weapon ultimately requires a lot of work, mainly due to the fact that most of the main Wrath of the Druids quests and assassinations must be already completed. Namely, any progress towards this weapon begins with the main story quest "Into the Fog" which introduces players to the Children of Danu, an enigmatic druid cult. The quest tasks players with finding and killing The Cursed, the first of the 10 Children of Danu members that will be hunted.

Five of the 10 are found by playing through the main story, while the other five require clues to find them:

  • The first Ash clue is found near the Treasure Hoard icon on the map, between lakes Lough Tuam and Lough Rea in Connacht. The second is inside a tent at highpoint Kiltober. He can be found in a cave underneath Kesh Corann.
  • The Spider note can be found after winning the drinking mini-game in Dublin, on a bench next to the 50 delicacies altar. After this, The Spider herself can be found in town.
  • The first Whisper clue is on top of Boyne Tombs in Meath, and the other is on a table in a ritual site south of Kells Abbey.
  • The Blaze is found in Ulster. One clue is in the graveyard next to the waterfall found at Bally na Gall in southeast Ulster. The other is inside the only house standing among a burned-down village, located northwest of Armagh. Blaze himself is also found here.
  • The Mist is also in Ulster, with the first clue being north of the big lake in Ulster, found inside a stone circle in Doon Daven. The second clue is on the shoreline northeast of Dysert highpoint in a boat. This leads to a small island called Doon Fort in northwestern Ulster.

Each time one of the Children of Danu members are killed, players will receive Bloody Amber. Collecting all ten begins the second phase of the quest, "Amber Sun." Assassin's Creed Valhalla players will want to make sure they're as juiced up as possible, as Deirdre will then send them to fight Balor, a tough boss sitting at level 370. After defeating him, Deirdre awards players with the Gae Bolg Mythical Spear.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
