Ubisoft's action RPG Assassin's Creed Valhalla offers players a plethora of weapons to use in combat. Assassin's Creed Valhalla weaves together real historical events and fantasy to make its place in the historical fiction genre. With the game modeled after the lifestyle of Vikings, it's to be expected Assassin's Creed Valhalla's weapon arsenal and gameplay features would be molded to fit accordingly.

Characters are not limited to hidden guns, swords, or the fandom-renowned hidden blade as they may have been in fan-favorites Assassin's Creed 2 and Assassin's Creed 3. Instead, Assassin's Creed Valhalla has weapons such as spears, hammers, and flails. To improve combat, players use Skill Trees and can enhance weapons at the blacksmith. Some weapons are arguably stronger than others and worth going the extra mile to obtain or improve. One such weapon is the Mournful Cry.

About the Mournful Cry

The Mournful Cry is a hammer that players can wield in either hand. Some players may have a bias for a different type of Assassin's Creed weapon, but Mournful Cry's benefits make it too good to pass up. Pre-enhancement, this weapon packs 59 Attack, 48 Skill, 76 Stun, 13 Weight, and a 53 Crit Pre (Crit Chance). The Mournful Cry's critical hits temporarily poison weapons, which will be very useful when facing stronger foes.

It's advised to try out different Assassin's Creed Valhalla weapons to make gameplay much easier and help players find their preferred form of combat.

  • The Mournful Cry uses the Wolf Skill Tree and has three Rune Slots.
  • A maxed-out enhanced Mournful Cry could have:
    • 136 Attack
    • 50 Speed
    • 182 Stun
    • 9 Weight
    • 99 Crit-Pre

Getting the Mournful Cry

Unlike some of the other weapons in the game, Mournful Cry can be bought from a vendor. The Mournful Cry weapon costs 120 opals at Reda's Shop in Ravensthorpe, which is available to players after the mission "Heavy is the Head."

Reda's Shop specializes in rare AC Valhalla items and is split into Daily and Weekly Categories. Meaning if the Mournful Cry isn't available, then players will have to keep checking until it appears in the shop. The Reset Time will always be 14:00 GMT while the Weekly Reset is scheduled on Tuesdays.

If low on opals, players can gain more by completing contracts or quests for Reba. Beware that some quests will expire after 24-hours while others may have a time limit that expires at the end of the week.

Locating the Mournful Cry may not be difficult for some players, but getting it can be quite a chore if they're low on in-game currency or not sure what to do. Anyone looking to expand their weapon inventory will need to stay on top of Assassin Creed Valhalla's in-game schedules and resets.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
