Assassin's Creed Valhalla may be making a big change to the franchise's tried and true formula. Male Eivor voice actor Magnus Bruun recently appeared on a Danish talk show, where he discussed the upcoming game, and also hinted that it could feature a big departure from series norms.

In the vast majority of Assassin's Creed games, players start the game off by either already being a part of the Assassins or joining them at some point in the early missions. However, Bruun's comments made it sound like that could be different in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Speaking to the talk show host, Bruun said, "[...] and behind that there is this fictional story that you as a player lives in, where there are two secret creeds, secret societies, which are the Knights Templars and the Assassins. Where you as a starting point, in the precious games, become part of the Assassins, but I cannot spoil anything related to the new game."

Based on the way Bruun set that statement up, it does seem to suggest that there will be something different in regards to Eivor joining the Assassins. However, it's possible that fans are just looking a little bit too much into that statement. We already know that Eivor encounters a member of the Assassins early on in Assassin's Creed Valhalla and gets the hidden blade, so it's not a stretch to assume that he becomes part of the order at some point early in the story like usual.

If there is a change to Assassin's Creed story formula in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, it won't be the only change that the game is introducing to the franchise. For example, Assassin's Creed Valhalla won't be as grindy as Assassin's Creed Odyssey, instead focusing on a skill tree instead of simply leveling up to get stronger. The game will also put a focus on Eivor's settlement, much more so than when settlements were seen in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.

It's possible fans will learn about more Assassin's Creed Valhalla changes next month. Ubisoft's E3 2020 replacement, Ubisoft Forward, is scheduled to take place on July 12, and the event will show off the company's biggest upcoming games. Assassin's Creed Valhalla is virtually guaranteed to be one of the game's showcased.

Hopefully Ubisoft Forward will see the announcement of the Assassin's Creed Valhalla release date along with some new gameplay footage and story details.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla launches this fall for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
