Of the many new and exciting features in Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Siege of Paris DLC, Eivor can now find and use one-handed swords. Dubbed "short swords" by the game, these have a unique moveset compared to the two-handed swords that players are used to and can be used with a shield or another weapon even without the Heavy Dual Wield skill. Aside from the event exclusive Skrofnung short sword, one of the first ones players are likely to find when arriving in Francia is the Ulfberht Sword, also known as Egbert. That said, it takes a bit of sleuthing to obtain.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla players can get the Ulfberht Sword as soon as they arrive in Francia, so there's no need to progress the story or even visit Toka in Melun. Instead, players just need to find and complete a specific mystery, and by the end of it, they'll earn the Ulfberht Sword called Egbert for themselves.

AC Valhalla where is Pruvinis

The mystery in question is in the Melunois region, more specifically in a small fort called Pruvinis. This can be found to the northeast of Melun, and players that haven't explored this region can find it by looking for the cluster of wealth and mysteries here.

Get the Pruvinis Chest Key

When approaching the fort, it is best to do so from the south wall, as it isn't heavily guarded. Take out the enemies here and head to the nearby tower to find Gedriht, a powerful soldier holding a key. This key is required to get the Pruvinis fort gear wealth, but has nothing to do with the Ulfberht sword.

Exit the tower onto a rope and use Odin's Sight to find a glowing blue parchment on a table in the nearby tent. This is the mystery that will ultimately lead the player to the Ulfberht sword. Take out the nearby guards and read the paper to learn the whereabouts of the sword.

On the note, the thieves have scribbled a map showing the whereabouts of their camp, although it is somewhat inaccurate. This map mimics the player's world map, so head to the ruins found to the east of the bridge across the river. It can also be located thanks to the collection of artifacts and wealth on the map.

This is the thieves' camp, but only one remains. He killed his partners in order to keep the sword for himself, but Eivor isn't so easy to kill. Players can get the sword in one of three ways depending on which dialogue choice they go with:

  • Give me the sword, or else - Players with a Charisma stat of two or more can convince him to hand over the sword with ease. Successfully completing flyting matches raises Charisma.
  • I'll buy the sword (3,000) - Giving the thief 3,000 silver also resolves the issue without any violence.
  • I will fight you for the sword - This starts a fight, and it is surprisingly difficult. Despite the area being only level 200, this thief is much more powerful than that. It's definitely doable, but players will need to be prepared.
Thieves Camp sword reward

Egbert is described as one of the legendary Ulfberht swords, and increases stun damage dealt to enemies after each hit. This can stack up to 10 times, resulting in a 25 point bonus to stun when at full effect. It also starts off at Flawless quality, so it's a great option for players wanting to experiment with one-handed swords.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
