Assassin's Creed Valhalla's upcoming DLC will take players to the kingdom of Francia, but they will be met with opposition. In addition to the standard enemy types that players are used to, Ubisoft just showed off a new enemy type, the Frankish Knight. This enemy is unique from all the others because of its emphasis on mounted combat. Most enemies in the game at the moment will dismount when they go to face Eivor in combat, but that isn't the case here. Players will need to figure out new strategies to take these enemies down.

The Siege of Paris DLC is scheduled to arrive for Assassin's Creed Valhalla players on August 12th, and these new Frankish Knights will come to the game then as well. There are sure to be more new enemy types than just this, but Ubisoft's short trailer shows off what they are capable of.

As the trailer below shows, the Frankish Knights wield large lances while they are mounted. Their primary method of combat seems to be ride-by-attacks, as they pass back and forth while stabbing at Eivor. They are also equipped with swords and shield, which they will presumably use when they are knocked off their mounts. They are also shown to throw javelins similar to the armored captain enemies. This will likely be one of their main weaknesses, as Valhalla players with the Missile Reversal skill unlocked can easily catch these spears and throw them right back at the enemy.

That's about all that was shown above, but it has led to some speculation about an evolution of mounted combat. Now that enemies will have the capabilities to attack while mounted on their horses, perhaps Eivor will gain that ability as well. At present, using the attack button while mounted causes Eivor to do a weak kick attack even if they have a sword or spear equipped. Fans are hopeful that they'll be able to use weapons while atop their horse as well, potentially even jousting with these Frankish Knights.

As the Siege of Paris DLC draws closer, Ubisoft will likely share more information about Assassin's Creed Valhalla to hype it up. Players should keep an eye out here and on the official AC Valhalla Twitter account for any more news. Just like the prior DLC, Wrath of the Druids, there will also be new wealth, mysteries, and artifacts to go and collect.
