Ubisoft Forward kicked off E3 today as the first event of the video game showcase, and after displaying some new gameplay for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction, it pivoted over toward Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the most successful Assassin's Creed launch the studio has had to date. To start the festivities, Ubisoft announced that Assassin's Creed Valhalla would receive a brand new expansion this summer called The Siege of Paris.

Ubisoft released Assassin's Creed Valhalla's first DLC expansion, Wrath of the Druids, last month, and it focused on Eivor assisting his cousin Barid, the King of Dublin, with uniting four regions under his banner and battling the Children of Danu cult. It allowed players to explore Ireland, giving the game a much more vegetated setting, as well as a new trade system for them to take advantage of and several new enemies for them to combat.

Ubisoft provided a small first look at what fans can expect from the DLC. In contrast to Wrath of the Druids, the Siege of Paris will take players to France, where they will enact the most ambitious battle in Viking history: the attempt to take control of Paris — as the name of the DLC suggests. As expected, the expansion will bring new weapons, abilities, and gear for players to use and, as well as new enemies, but it will also bring back black box infiltration missions.

This official announcement didn't provide too many new details about what players can expect from the DLC. Still, the details it does lend credibility to the Siege of Paris leaks J0nathan posted last week, specifically that it takes place eight years after the Wrath of Druids, as that DLC and the original Assassin's Creed Valhalla story — took place during 877. But, the Siege of Paris historically takes place during the year 885, so if Valhalla follows that, players should expect an 8-year time skip.

If this is the case, then the story details for this Assassin's Creed Valhalla DLC should also more or less follow J0nathan's leaks. He found that the Siege of Paris will see the Kingdom of Francia finally united under the one king, Charles the Fat, the great-grandson of Charlemagne. Eivor and the other settlers of Ravensthorpe decide to go to war with him after he starts attacking the Norse presence in his lands. Since the DLC launches this summer, more information about it will be coming soon.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
