There are several opportunities for romance in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and one presents itself during the Taken for Granted quest. More specifically, players must decide if they wish to get intimate with Randvi, Sigur's wife, at that point in the game, and indeed the choice will have an impact on Assassin's Creed Valhalla's ending.

Randvi is considered the signature romance within the game but gamers should absolutely be conflicted about if, or when, to go for it. For those fans that would like a better understanding of this choice before they make it, this guide is here to offer just that.

Updated on June 28th, 2023 by Hodey Johns: Those who are intrigued by the Randvi romance aren't alone. Despite all of the warning signs around her, she and Eivor develop a kinetic relationship, have shared interests, and have similar concerns about the future. The original guide here warned about getting a bad ending due to romancing Randvi. This is certainly possible, but it is avoidable; players can romance Randvi and good a good ending. They can also steer clear of getting a strike. To help players who are stuck in this situation, the guide has been updated with sections detailing exactly how to romance Randvi without any blowback. Also, a section has been added detailing why players might not want to romance Randvi.

Reasons To Avoid Romancing Randvi

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Talking To Randvi
  • Possible strike toward a bad ending.
  • Negative ethics and optics of an affair.
  • Possible poor interactions with Sigurd.
  • Locks out some other romances.

If the biggest issues players have with romancing Randvi involve possibly not having the best ending or angering Sigurd, there is a way to avoid this negativity that will be detailed in the next section. But these aren't the only reasons a gamer may want to avoid romancing Randvi.

Love may be welcome in a game with too much combat but there are many ethical issues at play. Should Eivor even be willing to see Randvi this way? Or should that be, as a matter of honor, an off-limits person? Even with Sigurd's descent into madness, from a moral ground, gamers may want to see him get well and re-established before even considering dissolving their marriage.

Finally, consider that Eivor may have a better relationship. Between collecting the best pieces of gear in the game, there will be many other intriguing romance options. Some might not conflict with Randvi's romance from a game standpoint but it's still cheating.

Reasons To Romance Randvi

  • Considered by the community to be canonical.
  • Most fleshed-out romance option.
  • Able to romance without a strike.
  • Eventually gain the blessing of Sigurd.

If Eivor loves Randvi and has haggled with their conscience enough to make this choice, the benefits of romance likely outweigh the drawbacks. Players are treated to new dialogue options and what is easily the most organic and thought-out romance in the game.

Skipping it almost feels non-canonical. Despite playing a major role, Randvi is still considered an underrated character in the game as she outshines most of the other protagonists. If players can romance her without getting the requisite strikes or angering Sigurd, they will be rewarded for doing so.

Avoiding The Strike And Having The Romance

  • Do not ask Randvi, "Are you all right?" until she and Sigurd divorce

It's possible for Eivor to have cake and eat it too with some unorthodox mission selections. Despite the "Are you all right?" choice being highlighted in gold, players can put off asking Randvi about it until much, much later in the game.

By putting this off and doing other things like getting ten small bullhead fish, gamers are allowed to experience a guilt-free romance with Randvi after she and Sigurd divorce. This will happen no matter what, so Eivor doesn't need to influence his brother or his brother's wife in any way.

Romance With One Strike

To get the perfect ending, players can only get two out of Sigurd's five strikes. Those who romance Randvi immediately after her Taken for Granted quest will net a strike and a pretty bad tongue-lashing from Sigurd. That being said, a strike can be considered a small price to pay.

Those who are impatient can romance Randvi right away with this in mind. It doesn't doom the playthrough, but gamers will have to be extra careful about making Sigurd happy going forward. Getting this strike is a common occurrence as this is one of many games that test a player's patience.

Romancing Randvi Second Chance

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Eivor Officiating The Wedding Between Gunnar And Brigid

Those who have already asked Randvi how she feels and didn't want to upset Sigurd by choosing the "I feel the same way" dialogue will have a second chance at romancing Randvi. During the wedding between Gunnar and Brigid, Eivor and Randvi can hit things off again.

By this point, Sigurd and Randvi have divorced no matter what and so there is no worry about messing up the ending. Gamers might be sad that they missed out on an adventurous date, but the ending is the same with the two side-by-side. After the credits finally roll, this game is officially over (but not yet done).

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
