The announcement of Assassin's Creed Valhalla set records for Ubisoft, the company has revealed. Ubisoft officially revealed Assassin's Creed Valhalla at the end of April, exciting fans with a cinematic trailer that showed a bloody battle between the Vikings and an Anglo-Saxon army.

In an earnings call, Ubisoft chief financial officer Frédérick Duguet confirmed that the Assassin's Creed Valhalla announcement trailer got 100 million views in its first 10 days. This makes it the most viewed trailer in Ubisoft history, said Duguet. Duguet also revealed that the "cumulative" number of views of the official trailer and user-generated content is "close to" 200 million.

Excitement for Assassin's Creed Valhalla is affecting other games in the series too, said Duguet. Ubisoft has seen "a very meaningful spike in player engagement" in Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Assassin's Creed Origins. Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be making several big changes from these games such as removing the major level grind that fans saw in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. It seems that this grind isn't stopping some fans from jumping back into the older game.

Ubisoft has also confirmed that instant kills with the hidden blade, a weapon which wasn't available in Assassin's Creed Odyssey and didn't seem to deal as much damage in Assassin's Creed Origins, will be featured in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Some had complained that Assassin's Creed Odyssey left behind some of the stealth gameplay that fans enjoyed about the series but it seems that Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be able to bring part of that back.

However, while Ubisoft will be glad that so many people have viewed the Assassin's Creed Valhalla trailer, the company will not be as happy with what came after it. A week after announcing the game, Ubisoft revealed an Assassin's Creed Valhalla gameplay trailer in the Xbox Series X Inside Xbox stream. This trailer was heavily criticized as it did not show the real-time gameplay that many fans had expected. The gameplay seemed to be in-game cinematics which didn't give fans a full of idea of what Assassin's Creed Valhalla will look like.

Ubisoft will be able to do something about this though as the company has announced a Ubisoft Forward event for July. This event, which typically would have been held at the cancelled E3 2020, will likely feature new trailers and gameplay from all of Ubisoft's big games such as Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla releases Holiday 2020 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
