Like other Assassin's Creed titles, Valhalla offers a vast open-world for players to explore, encountering many side quests and hidden treasures. One location, Monk's Lair in Suthsexe, has a treasure chest inside of it, but fans seem to be having some trouble when it comes to actually opening it up and grabbing its contents.

The Monk's Lair can be found directly east of Calleva Outpost and is a small hut that is mysteriously covered in lots of blood. Inside, players will find a chest, but it'll be locked up tight. Assassin's Creed Valhalla players will want to open up their map and head towards the blue dot that's just southeast of the Monk's Lair.

This blue dot signifies a Mystery in Valhalla, which is essentially the game's version of a side quest. Players can place a marker on the spot to get there without getting lost via the map screen.

Once players arrive at the tomb, there will be something blocking the main entrance. Going around the tomb to the other side will present players with the opportunity to peak inside the room through a small window. By shooting an arrow into the room and destroying a crate, the front entrance should now be open for Eivor to let themselves in by pushing the boxes.

Players will find the Monk's Lair chest key on the ground in plain sight, but once it is picked up, there's something unexpected that'll happen. The Mad Monk will appear outside, and it turns out that he's killed tons of people, and he wants Eivor dead as well.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla players don't actually have to beat him in order to leave the area, so if the only thing fans want is the contents of the locked chest, then they can feel free to leave the Mad Monk to himself or fight him to the death --it's all up to the player's decision at this point in the game.

Once players head back to the Monk's lair, they'll find the chest again, which can now be unlocked with the newly acquired key from the murderer's not-s0-secret tomb. The chest contains Nickel Ingot and is a crucial resource used to upgrade Eivor's weapons and other equipment. Players will find the item to be handy once the difficulty ramps up in Valhalla.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
