Ubisoft unleashed the floodgates on information for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, following the reveal of the official worldwide premiere trailer for AC: Valhalla. A lot of new details have been revealed such as its holiday 2020 release window, next-gen compatibility, a playable male or female protagonist named Eivor, and so much more.

The amount of information Ubisoft has revealed in strewn across places on the internet, but the trailer itself bears something that diehard fans of the franchise may be glad to know: Assassin's Creed Valhalla features a hidden blade. Not that this is exactly a surprise, but it's worth mentioning that it's been gone for a short spell.

In Assassin's Creed Odyssey, there is no brotherhood and therefore no Assassins. There's no Hidden Ones yet for that matter. Instead of a Hidden Blade, Alexios or Kassandra use the Spear of Leonidas to implement assassinations, which will mechanically similar, it left a distaste in some mouths. That said, while the hidden blade is set to return in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, it looks like there's yet another twist to its implementation.

Fans can see it in action in the trailer below, near the end after Eivor sings Odin's praise. He engages with a heavy enemy who looks like may defeat him before dawning the Hidden Blade and taking the kill. Players may note that the Eivor's Hidden Blade is actually on top of his wrist instead of under it. There's been a ton of spins on the Hidden Blade in Assassin's Creed in the past, and while this is a simple one, it is a notable one.

This may placate some of what we know about Eivor, the Assassins, and Templars at this time. Since neither organization would appear for another century or so, players will be dealing with Hidden Ones and the Order of the Ancients. What this means is that certain rules may no longe apply, and while it my seem antithetical to the title Hidden Ones, Eivor may not be the most stealthy at the art of assassination in AC: Valhalla, whether playing on this gen or next-gen consoles.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla releases holiday 2020 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
