Assassin's Creed Valhalla thrusts players back into a familiar world where Viking protagonist Eivor becomes embroidered in a conflict between the Order of Ancients and Hidden Ones in this entry. Naturally, Eivor must train both combat and stealth skills to successfully lead the Viking people to a better future in England. But while not fighting enemies or questing, players can engage in more recreational activities such as catching fish.

As a recent addition to the series, Eivor has several different ways to go fishing. Whether players choose to first build a fishing hut, fight in hand-to-fish combat, or just shoot them from afar with arrows they will eventually find some rarer catches across the world. One of these uncommon types is the Bullhead (small) which is needed as an offering to the Elisdon Altar but can be found without too much difficulty in the right places.

Updated on June 26, 2023, by Stephen LaGioia: Assassin's Creed Valhalla may have winded down in 2023 in terms of updates, though the Viking epic is as grandiose as it's ever been, offering countless hours of fun adventuring. One activity that is rather unique to the AC formula is fishing, which Valhalla has players partake in for a number of tasks. This includes the topic at hand, the Elisdon Altar offering.

Seeing as the upcoming Mirage is set to take the series back to its roots, it would seem unlikely fishing will make a return in that game in any major form. But just in case players wanted to brush up on their Bullhead fishing in Valhalla, it's best to revise the guide, laying out more details of the Elisdon Offering Altar and the small Bullhead required to complete this World Event.

Where Is Elisdon Altar?

To initiate this fishing expedition, players will first need to trigger the World Event Mystery by seeking out Elisdon Altar. This appears as a large stone pillar with a hole in the center, which towers at the top of a hill. The Altar lies south of Ravensthorpe, across the way from the Nene River.

About Fish And Bullhead

Bullhead come in three sizes; small, regular, and big. They are among the various fish scattered throughout the rivers of AC Valhalla.

Other fish types include Perch, Eel, Halibut, Haddock, Brown Trout, Mackerel, Redfish, and Cod. Fish can be caught by having Eivor either fish with a fishing line or opt for firing at them with a bow.

Best Small Bullhead Locations

There are a number of ideal places to go to get the best chance of catching small Bullhead — some more than others.

If players are far away from any of the following locations or struggle to find the precise locations of the fish, bring up the map and fast-travel over. Upon arrival, look at the river and use Odin's Sight to check how many Bullheads are nearby.

Ledecestrescire

One of the best spots to check out is Ledecestrescire, near the town of Ledecestre along the river that borders it. Head to the left side of the village when arriving in this area, where the Bullhead will be found in large numbers in the river. Brown Trout, Perch, and Eel can also be found here.

Grantebridgescire

Alternatively, players can also find plenty of small Bullheads in Grantebridgescire at the river junction near the Elisdon Altar to the east. At least ten fish should be swimming nearby at a given time. Halibut, Perch, and various other fish can also be found here.

These two locales are the best spots to find small Bullhead in abundance, though there are a few other areas where they can sometimes be found.

Alne And Nene Rivers

A decent spot to fish or attack Bullhead with Eivor's weapon is the Alne (west of the Elisdon Altar).

Another place players can try is the Nene River (just north of the Altar), near the Ravensthorpe dock.

Keep in mind, though, there are many other types of fish lurking in these rivers.

While these areas aren't as abundant or as easy, they do reportedly have small Bullhead at certain times.

East Anglia

There is a smaller area where Bullheads can be caught without having to fish or navigate deep water. The location is in East Anglia at the Deod River between Britannia's Watch and the Grimes Graves.

Bullhead (of all sizes) can sometimes be found in the rivers of Essexe, Lincolnscire, Eurvicscire, and Snotingehamscire, though not as frequently.

Other Altars That Require Small Bullhead

In addition to the Elisdon Altar, there are a couple of other Altars that Eivor can hand in as an offering to complete Mysteries and gain skill points.

Glowecestrescire Altar

This Altar also requires ten small Bullheads and can be found in the southwest region of Glowestrescire.

It's just to the northwest of the river junction, and just west of the large Viewpoint.

Nymdesfelda Altar

To access this Altar, players can begin in Glowecestre and head to a bridge west of the town. It will lead over the river to the west, where the Altar can be seen atop a hill.

Rewards For Completing Elisdon Altar

Once completed, Eivor will be rewarded a hefty amount of XP, a useful Skill Point, and a +1 Grantebridgescire Mystery (out of 15). But first, players will need to have offered all ten of the small Bullhead.

Tips For Catching Small Bullhead Effectively

  • Wait for a school of fish to gather near the side of the river or in a boat before striking and use Odin's Sight.
  • Look for fish without fins, as Bullhead do not have them.
  • Once set, start fishing or jump in the river and fire arrows — but be careful not to miss and scare off the fish, as it doesn't take much. Players can wait in silence, Meditate, or leave for a bit so the fish return.
  • The preferred method to catch them is to fire a bunch of arrows while on a boat and collect the Bullheads afterward.
    • It is recommended to use Light Arrows rather than potent Explosive Arrows or other types due to their high rate of fire.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
