Assassin's Creed Valhalla has slowly but surely become one of the most highly anticipated games of this year. Though, for how much excitement this game has garnered from the gaming community, there are still many details that remain unknown regarding the upcoming title. However, the narrative director of the game has revealed how outfits and gear work in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

If there's one thing that can be said of Assassin's Creed, it's that it's a series with gameplay that has gone through several changes over the course of the franchise's history. This makes sense considering how every game in the series takes place during a different period in history and centers around a different culture. Not all of these changes have been received well by the community of fans, but with every subsequent game, there's always opportunity to improve.

One of the core mechanics featured in Assassin's Creed Origins was the utilization of a randomized loot system, which forced players to grind through different parts of the game to get the right armor or equipment. This does not appear to be the case with Assassin's Creed Valhalla. According to the game's narrative director Darby McDevitt, the gear and outfits can be upgraded over time, not too dissimilar to Assassin's Creed Syndicate.

It's clear that the developers want to move away from the level grinding, open-world RPG aesthetic of the more recent titles. It seems as though Valhalla will hearken back to game mechanics featured in earlier titles in the franchise.

It's still too early to tell what kind of game Assassin's Creed Valhalla will ultimately be. With only intermittent details mentioned by the developers to go off of, it's unclear as to what players can truly expect. Hopefully, the developers recognize what players want and what they don't want from this new experience.

Assassin's Creed is one of the most recognizable gaming franchises of all time. With a dozen entries in the main series and several spin-off games, Assassin's Creed has captivated the gaming community for over a decade. Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be the newest entry in the primary series of games.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is set to release sometime in 2020.
