Ubisoft has made Assassin's Creed Valhalla available for free for a limited time. While there is still much more to Assassin's Creed Valhalla than what's being offered through this free weekend, the entire base game will still give fans dozens of hours of content to explore at their leisure.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available to try for free from December 15 until December 19, upon which it will be locked behind a paywall like normal. Valhalla has become the highest-grossing Assassin's Creed title to date since it was released in 2020, and Ubisoft has expanded upon the base experience being offered for free over the weekend. Players that enjoy Assassin's Creed Valhalla through the free weekend will also be able to take Eivor through Ireland, Paris, and the realm of Svartalfheim through the various expansions that have come out since the game launched.

Assassin's Creed fans will have to act fast to get through Valhalla over the free-to-play weekend given that even the main game offers over 80 hours of gameplay between main quests and side objectives. The game will be unlocked for players that don't own Assassin's Creed Valhalla until December 19 at 4:00 A.M. local time, leaving barely enough time to experience Ubisoft's Viking Age. The installation size for Assassin's Creed Valhalla will vary depending on the platform, and PC players may have to go through Ubisoft Connect in order to complete the installation which will be a process that takes some time out of the remaining hours of free access.

History buffs that aren't so interested in the intense combat and RPG aspects of Assassin's Creed Valhalla will still be able to appreciate the lore of the world that Ubisoft has created through Discovery Tour: Viking Age. The Discovery Tour concept was first introduced with Ancient Egypt in Assassin's Creed Origins, and it has since become a staple of the franchise. Through the Discovery Tour: Viking Age, players can play as different characters to see Norway and England from different perspectives to discover hidden and important details that may otherwise go unnoticed by going through the standard game as Eivor.

As many Assassin's Creed fans expressed their enthusiasm for the chance to try Valhalla for free over the weekend like with other times in the past, others highlighted their reverence for the game by citing profile stats. Though some players have stated their intent to download Assassin's Creed Valhalla for the weekend, one pointed out that they'll need much more time than four days to make a dent in the immense world full of quests designed by Ubisoft.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
