Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Valhalla continues its reign as one of the most successful titles from the publisher. According to the company's recent financial report, Assassin's Creed Valhalla has become Ubisoft's highest-earning title of the Assassin's Creed franchise to date.

Released in November 2020, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is the 12th main entry to the popular series. Over the course of its 14-year lifespan, the franchise has changed its genre. This is the latest one to follow the studio's RPG-centric approach. Following its debut, Assassin's Creed Valhalla recorded the biggest launch of the franchise where it sold more units during the first week than any other Assassin's Creed game before. By October 2021, the title emerged as Ubisoft's second most profitable game.

Ubisoft's latest financial reports indicate that Assassin's Creed Valhalla has now crossed the $1 billion revenue mark, the first in the franchise since its debut in 2007. The title's success has reportedly contributed to the company's most profitable financial quarter to date. The figure was largely thanks to developers regularly updating the game post-launch with seasonal events, cosmetic updates, and DLC expansions.

Although only a little over a year old, Assassin's Creed Valhalla already has two story expansions - Wrath of the Druids and The Siege of Paris. Additionally, the upcoming Dawn of Ragnarok expansion is scheduled to be released on March 10 at a $40 price tag. It's also set to be Ubisoft's biggest expansion update.

However, despite the overwhelming success of the franchise, Ubisoft has been grappling with its fair share of internal issues. Most notably, the company's misconduct allegations. This, coupled with the effects of the global pandemic, seems to have impacted the company's operations. It's now rumored that Ubisoft is working on a smaller Assassin's Creed title, scheduled for a late 2022 or a 2023 release. Though Ubisoft's CEO has yet to comment on the seemingly upcoming game.

According to its official Twitter account, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is scheduled to receive its big title update coming February 22. This will be followed by a free weekend event and the Dawn of Ragnarok expansion, which is larger than AC Origins. Now, with the Assassin's Creed Rift rumors, it will be interesting to see how the story of the 14-year-old franchise will continue to grow as the franchise continues its live-service approach. Either way, this is bound to excite fans of the series who have been hungry for more story content.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
