Assassin's Creed Valhalla players will be able to jump into Eivor's last chapter this year, but Ubisoft has a lot of work to do in order to give players a satisfying conclusion. The latest title in the franchise was released in 2020 and brings players to the Viking age and in command of Eivor Varinsdottir. Assassin's Creed Valhalla's massive open world and lengthy storyline blends the franchise's battle between the Templars and Assassins with the mythology of the region in which it takes place.

During the Ubisoft Forward event this year, Ubisoft confirmed that, alongside new titles Assassin's Creed Mirage and Red, Eivor would be given a new bit of content titled 'The Last Chapter.' This content addition is set to wrap up Eivor's story as well as the story of Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Saying Farewell to Ravensthorpe

evior in ac valhalla

Ravensthorpe is the base of operations for the Raven clan in Assassin's Creed Valhalla and is an important area that this final chapter needs to give a proper send-off. Players who have made their way through the lengthy campaign in the game will have spent a significant amount of time building this village up. There are a total of six levels of progression for Ravensthorpe that players can unlock, bringing the settlement up to the size of a bustling town. There are a number of different customizable locations throughout the area as well and players can even unlock unique statues and structures to place.

Throughout the game, players will run across characters that can be invited to stay and improve their settlement. This means that over the dozens of hours that players invest in the game they will have spent a good deal of time getting acquainted with these characters and investing their own hard-earned silver in the shops these characters can operate. On top of this, Ravensthorpe acts as the launching point of all the campaigns in the different regions of England, bringing the allies Eivor makes in Assassin's Creed Valhalla together at different points in the story. It stands to reason that this final DLC should do all it can in order to make sure that this area and its people get a proper farewell.

Leaving the village and its people could come in a variety of different shapes, and it will be interesting to see how Ubisoft approaches this aspect of the final chapter. It will equally be interesting to note whether players that complete this final chapter will be able to return to her home. As Assassin's Creed Valhalla players know, Eivor ends up passing away in North America, a long journey from Ravensthorpe.

Who Will Lead the Raven Clan?

With Eivor mentioning that it is time to set forth for distant shores, it remains unclear what the future holds for the Raven clan and its leadership. Having gone from a middling group to uniting different regions of medieval England, the Raven clan has seen some dramatic changes while under the guidance of Sigurd and Eivor. Just as players become invested in improving Ravensthorpe in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, they become invested in gaining power for their group of Vikings.

One of the major points of conflict along this journey is the role that Eivor holds in the Raven clan. Time after time, the clan's leader Sigurd feels like his position is threatened. On top of this, Eivor even comes to blows with respected clan member Dag over Eivor's ability to lead the clan in one of Assassin's Creed Valhalla's crucial moments. This all points to the importance of this chapter making sure that the Raven clan's future is assured. At the very least, good or bad, there should be a focus within this chapter on who takes the helm of the Raven clan while Eivor moves on.

Tying up Loose Ends With Loved Ones and Havi

Assassin's Creed Valhalla brings dozens of different characters in contact with Eivor. While many of these end up being victims of Eivor's hidden blade, there are plenty that are open to being romanced in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. This feature within the game even plays a part in the overarching conflict between Sigurd and Eivor. This means that players need some sort of substantial conclusion for the romance that they chose to pursue.

One of the more intriguing possibilities for this aspect of the game is Sigurd's wife, Randvi in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. While exploring a relationship with this character can lead to conflict between Eivor and Sigurd, it is this romance in the game that can feel the most impactful for players. Even if a player hasn't pursued a relationship with this character, it is important that the last chapter for Eivor involves this character and helps bring some closure to their friendship.

Aside from characters with a love interest, the trailer for this final chapter shows Eivor speaking with Havi/Odin. Eivor is the Isu reincarnation of this figure and, while they have interacted throughout the game, this short scene feels different. It is important for this final chapter of Assassin's Creed Valhalla to reexamine these two characters, their relationship, and show how their interactions will develop in the near future.

Answering the Vinland Question

eivor grave in ac valhalla

The most important question about Eivor's life after the events of Assassin's Creed Valhalla is how she ended up being buried in North America. Vikings did historically visit this continent and players even got the chance to bring Eivor here once before in order to track down Gorm Kjotvesson, a member of the Order of Ancients, but she then returned to England. At the moment it is unclear what would bring the Viking back to this region and why it was that Eivor decided to spend her last days there.

It is therefore important for the developers to tie up the loose ends remaining in England and show what drew Eivor to the new land. It isn't clear how much of this last chapter will take place in England and how much will bring players back to Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Vinland but, it is important that the motivations for Eivor's move in the last chapter are clear and reasonable. Otherwise, players will be left with the most nagging question remaining since the game came out two years ago.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
