After looking through the game files of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in early May, French content creator J0nathan shared the maps of the game’s two planned expansions Wrath of the Druids and Siege of Paris. A couple of weeks later, when the first DLC released, J0nathan’s leaked information about the map was proven to be almost entirely correct, as has happened multiple times in the past. The YouTuber has now shared information that a third, unannounced expansion for Valhalla is currently in development.

So far, Ubisoft has only revealed two expansions on its roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which according to the PlayStation Store should both be released by November 9, or exactly one year after the game’s release. That doesn’t, however, preclude the possibility of a third content expansion being in the works, perhaps for individual purchase or a second season pass.

Further delving into the files of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, J0nathan has uncovered information that hints strongly at a third expansion code named Meteor being developed by Ubisoft Sofia, the company’s Bulgarian studio. There are three game files with particularly revealing names: DLC_EXP1_Ireland, DLC_EXP2_Francia, and DLC_EXP3_Meteor. Obviously, the first two files refer to Wrath of the Druids, which is set in Ireland, and Siege of Paris is the unreleased second expansion that takes place in France.

The idea that Ubisoft Sofia is behind Meteor’s development is also supported by information in the game files. Grouped with a file called “ACK_EXP3Meteor_Prototypes” are several lines of code that contain the letters “TST_SOF,” referring presumably to a test of the DLC content and the Sofia studio. If this is true, it means that Sofia has been diverted from its work on an unannounced Assassin’s Creed game about Richard the Lionheart, code named Stella, which J0nathan leaked several months back.

As for the story of Meteor itself, J0nathan believes that the third expansion will focus on Norse mythology and center around Muspelheim, or North Africa. There is a game file that contains the words “LocationWorldEntry_ACK_DLC_Muspelheim,” although J0nathan admits that this might refer to removed or abandoned game content. There is a theory that in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, each of the Norse realms corresponds to a real-world location and, as confirmed on Reddit by Darby McDevitt, the game’s narrative director, Muspelheim corresponds to “all of Northern Africa.”

J0nathan believes that Meteor was not initially planned by Ubisoft, because information about it did not appear in the game’s files until after a content update at the end of March. This sudden change in trajectory, he speculates, may be because of the record-breaking success experienced by Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
