Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Books of Knowledge are key to learning the many diverse skills available to Eivor during their quest, so they are naturally not always easy to get. For instance, the Book of Knowledge in Crepelgate Fort is hidden behind Eivor's worst enemy: a barred door.

As with other barred doors in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, players will need to search thoroughly for a way around it. Thankfully, this one isn't locked behind story progression or anything like that, so with enough ingenuity and determination players can find a way in to claim the book of knowledge.

To find this building, players first need to head to Oxenefordscire and search for Crepelgate. This small fort can be found just northwest of Lunden, and since the story takes players to Lunden often early on, it shouldn't be too difficult to track down. Once there, the wealth marker should clearly show the building in question.

When facing the barred door, players should turn left and start making their way around the building. They'll pass a bale hay on the corner and then come across some scaffolding. Though Assassin's Creed trains players to climb scaffolding at any chance they get, players will instead need to walk past it and then turn around. In the corner of the building there is a hole in the scaffolding that players can climb through. Taking this path will lead to the upper floor of the building. A ladder leads down to the ground floor where players can claim the Book of Knowledge and break the bar blocking the door.

This Book of Knowledge contains the Man's Best Friend ability, which lets the player summon their pet wolf and sic it on an enemy. Assassin's Creed Valhalla has already delighted players by letting them pet dogs and even get a viking cat to join their longship crew, so adding a combat ready wolf to the mix should only multiply that excitement. This ability is actually rather powerful as well, so it's well worth the effort of hunting it down.

This is but one of many treasures players can find in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, though players should be careful with how much exploring they do early on. While some wealth markers such as this encourage the player to think outside the box to find a way to get it, others like the one behind the barred door in Offchurch are simply locked behind story progression. For this reason, it never hurts to double check how to get a certain piece of wealth.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
