Of the many mysteries Eivor must solve in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, building Cairns is one of the more divisive. Some fans love the art and precision of stacking these rocks while others find the act tedious and the controls awkward. Regardless, it seems as though some diehard Assassin's Creed fans enjoy it enough to replicate the practice in real life, as these real life cairns show. As simple as they are, they have a sort of beauty to them that is hard to describe.

It should be said ahead of time that there are inappropriate places to build cairns. While stacking rocks may seem like a harmless endeavor, moving them from their place can make soil more prone to erosion and affect micro ecosystems. The National Park Service instructs visitors to never build unauthorized cairns or tamper with existing ones while on park property, so keep this in mind when visiting a government designated space. Still, it does no harm to enjoy these Assassin's Creed Valhalla inspired creations.

This cairn comes from Redditor SweepyDinosaur, and the caption sums up almost everyone's feelings about doing the activity in the game. Players might enjoy the cairn stacking activity a bit more if the controls were easier to master and the physics were a bit more predictable. For this reason, it comes as no surprise at all to see that even a cairn of this height was easier to build in real life than in the game.

Redditor Torbjorn-WarBear made this cairn while on vacation in Arizona, specifically near Little Buffalo River. This example is striking due to the shape of the cairn, as the one massive rock balancing perfectly on the smaller one creates an amazing look and is very impressive. If only all of the rocks used in Assassin's Creed Valhalla were this flat.

This cairn was made shortly after finishing a cleaning project on a beach in the Mediterranean. Redditor harliblue explains that the cleaning project they were a part of managed to clean over a ton of plastic out of the ocean. The smaller cairn on the right was made by their father, and both are impressive in their own right.

This final cairn was made by Redditor Torn_leaf together with their girlfriend, but they didn't stop at just a cairn. They also collected large rocks and laid them out in a circle to act as a crown for their creation. The picture looks like something that could have come straight out of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and fans in the comments are impressed by the pair's handiwork.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
