Assassin's Creed Valhalla takes players from the humble days of fighting the Templars to possibly taking on Gods in the upcoming installment.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is the latest addition to the Assassin's Creed franchise developed by Ubisoft Montreal. It is set to release later this year on both current and next-gen consoles. So far, it is known that the game will take place during the age of Vikings and follows the story of a clan from the Great Heathen Army as they expand their territory and settle into new lands across Europe. The player takes control of a Viking named Eivor as they learn from The Hidden Ones to fight against the Order of the Ancients.

The developers not only plan to adapt the series for next-gen consoles but also bring back mechanics from the older games such as social stealth and the insta-kill hidden blade. Recently, a rumor has leaked from Ubisoft that could confirm the possibility to face off against Odin, the god of war and death, and Thor, the god of thunder.

A reporter from Kotaku received an anonymous tip about the new functions from Valhalla before the trailer was ever released, giving some credibility to its accuracy. However, part of the leak that hasn't been confirmed yet by any update is the possibility that players will be able to fight against gods from Norse mythology in a sort of dream-like sequence.

Kotaku had an interview with one of the creators of the game from Ubisoft. In it, the interviewer asked a question about the ability to fight against figures from Norse mythology. However, the developer denied commenting about the Valhalla rumors stating, "I don't talk about rumors."

Fans of the game will know that they were able to fight against a giant snake in a dream sequence from Assassin's Creed Origins, so the chance of dream sequences isn't out of the realm of possibilities. As of this moment, nothing further can be proven about taking down the god of thunder, so fans likely won't have to wait until Assassin's Creed Valhalla's release to see if this fantasy can be put into action.

Assassins Creed Valhalla is set to release later this year for PC, PS4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
