Assassin's Creed Valhalla is one of the most ambitious installments of Ubisoft's highly successful video game franchise, Assassin's Creed. The game was received positively by most, with many praising its massive open world, decent story, and fantastic RPG elements.

Being a robust ARPG, Assassin's Creed: Valhalla features a wide variety of items that players can use at their disposal. Many areas of the game can also be considerably challenging. To combat this, there are several armor sets in the game that players can wear to properly match their playstyle. Some of these armor sets are incredibly powerful — especially when utilizing the extra perks from wearing a whole set — and will help Eivor make alliances and defeat enemies with style and valor.

Updated July 6, 2023 by Stephen LaGioia: Since its debut in 2020, Assassin's Creed Valhalla's lush worlds have been expanded thanks to updates and DLC by Ubisoft, culminating with the epic Dawn of Ragnarok. Following this will be a brand new game that seeks to balance modern flashiness with classic AC mechanics and settings, Mirage.

But until then, many will want to brush up on their Viking skirmishes, with the aid of an expanding list of potent armor. So it seemed fitting to replenish this list with more great AC Valhalla armor sets, new and old.

22 Raven Clan Armor Set

Raven Clan Armor from AC Valhalla on boat

The Raven Clan Armor Set is Eivor's default armor. Despite this, this armor set is more than capable of decently protecting Eivor throughout the game, if the player chooses.

This armor set increases the player's armor stat when their health is low, making it the perfect beginning armor set. It also gives an additional increase in Critical Chance. Aside from this, the armor offers no additional buff. While players can complete the game from start to finish just with this armor, it is recommended to explore other options.

  • Increase Armor the lower the player's Health is (two pieces)
  • Additional increase to Critical Chance (all five pieces)

21 Huntsman Armor Set

Huntsman Armor Set from AC Valhalla

Hence its name, the Huntsman Armor set is perfect for bow wielders and ranged attackers. While this type of gameplay is fun and offers extra challenges, it will ultimately hinder the player from experiencing the game's ultimate potential. Thus, this Wolf-aligned armor set should only ever be used in the early stages of the game or during particular missions.

The armor set provides players an increase in ranged damage when hitting enemies from 20m away. It also gives an additional increase in speed.

  • Increase Range Damage when hitting enemies further than 20m away (two pieces)
  • Additional Increase to Speed (all five pieces)

20 Fallen Heroes Armor Set

Eivor is sure not to fall too frequently in battle with this Wolf-aligned set. Obtainable by completing the Tombs of the Fallen, this set will grant players a well-rounded slew of buffs when the pieces are worn together. Even wearing two of the pieces will grant double-digit stat boosts for armor, melee damage, and range damage.

Yet, wearing all five will yield an explosive pulse following a short delay after being struck. While it's laced with a ten-second cooldown, it's highly effective, as it deals a wave of damage. This knocks down all enemies in its vicinity.

  • +10 Armor, +15 Melee Damage, +15 Ranged Damage (two pieces)
  • Explosive pulse that deals damage to all enemies in the area (all five pieces)

19 Druidic Armor Set

Assasisn's Creed Valhalla Druidic armor set standing in stoney field

This thematic, intimidating armor set from Wrath of the Druids stands as one of the add-on's allures. The Raven-aligned gear rewards successful hits on the same enemy with health restoration, while boosting melee damage and poison build-up resistance.

This gives it a diverse slew of buffs that accommodate various fighting styles and complements its spooky imagery. Though it very much favors more aggressive players, allowing Eivor to outlast foes they overpower. These armor pieces are rewarded for completing the four Tombs of the Fallen hidden dungeons throughout England.

  • +3.5% Health Restoration after three hits on the same enemy (two pieces)
  • +10 Melee Damage (all five pieces)
  • +20 Poison build-up resistance (all five pieces)

18 Fire Giant Armor Set

Assasisn's Creed Valhalla Fire Giant armor set Eivor jumping axe-wielding soldier

The epic, quasi-stand-alone DLC, Dawn of Ragnarok has much appealing content to entice returning players while drawing in newbies. Among these draws is the potent, red-hot Fire Giant set, which can be obtained by looting various chests scattered about Svartalfheim.

This flashy Bear-aligned armor accommodates those who like to play with fire and melt opponents, as it increases melee damage when Eivor's weapon is on fire. It further turns a heated battle in favor of Eivor, granting tons of melee resistance when all pieces are equipped. As one might expect, fighting with a complete set can cause even larger foes to wear down rather quickly.

  • +25 Melee Damage (when weapon is on fire) (two pieces)
  • +25 Melee Resistance (all five pieces)

17 Dwarven Blacksmith Armor Set

AC Valhalla Dwarven Blacksmith Armor inventory stats

This shiny, stout armor from the separate DLC Dawn of Ragnarok can be gathered by way of various Wealth Chests scattered through Svartalfheim; specifically in the Svaladal and Vangrinn regions. Being designed for higher-powered Vikings, this armor is naturally higher in stats and potency than many.

Beyond just looking sleek, and being thematically fitting for Eivor, this Bear-aligned armor set allows players to overwhelm the usually clunkier foes with sheer speed. Having all five pieces equipped will yield an ample increase in speed. This is complemented by boosted defense (for ten seconds) when stunning an enemy — which is likely to happen when striking fast and frequently.

  • Increase Armor by 30 when stunning an enemy (two pieces)
  • Additional 20 increase to Speed (all five pieces)

16 Odin The All-Father Armor Set

AC Valhalla Odin the All Father Armor Set Eivor display in quarry

This divine Raven-aligned armor set can be rewarded upon fighting with Valkyrie Kara and besting her in the arena within the Dawn of Ragnarok DLC, in Kara's Domain. Specifically, players will have to spend 1,200 Tokens of Kara on each piece of armor, which is rewarded by fighting in the arena.

Getting the entire set will be hard fought, but it's quite worth the battle — especially for those who like their combat from afar. Even having two pieces yields nice rewards, granting a 50% chance to increase the ever-useful Adrenaline gain upon landing a headshot or striking a weak point. This can build up to three times. This is nicely intertwined with the full-set bonus, which brings a major bump to headshot damage.

  • 50% chance to increase Adrenaline gain on Headshot or weak point hit (1-3x Adrenaline gain rate) (two pieces)
  • 25 increase to Headshot damage (all five pieces)

15 Berserker Armor Set

Berserker Armor Set from AC Valhalla inventory screen

The Bear-aligned Berserker Armor set is quite the beast, and is visually awesome to boot. Eivor gets to wear a bear's head as a helmet, because why not? The only downside to this armor set is its accessibility. Players can get this as a free pack alongside the Gold or Ultimate edition of the game, or buy it in the Ubisoft store (1,500 Helix Credits). It also randomly appears in Reda's shop, but that is difficult to keep track of.

The armor offers a speed increase buff once the player's health goes low. It also offers an increase in attack and armor.

  • Increases Speed when taking damage until players Heal themselves (stacks up to five times) (two pieces)
  • Additional increase to Attack and Armor (all five pieces)

14 Magister's Armor Set

AC Valhalla Magister's Armor Set on Eivor standing in Ravensthorpe

The Magister's Armor set has a very sleek-looking design. It also has quite a few useful buffs, but the only drawback is they only get triggered at night.

While wearing this armor, Eivor gains a 15-point increase in melee damage and ranged damage. Once again, only at night. It's such a shame that the buff is restrictive considering how great the armor set looks. The armor supposedly used to belong to a Hidden One member, who probably preferred to operate at night judging by the absurd buff restriction. The Magister's Armor Set is a Raven-aligned set.

  • Increase Melee Damage at night (two pieces)
  • Additional increase to Ranged Damage (all five pieces)

13 Galloglach Armor Set

galloglach armor from AC Valhalla inventory screen

The Galloglach Armor set has a solid Viking-centric design perfect for Eivor. It is not the best armor in the game, but it can be a good companion to those who prefer a heavy melee approach instead of using stealth or ranged weapons.

The armor offers an increase in melee resistance upon successful enemy finishers. It also grants an additional increase to melee damage. The Galloglach Armor Set is a Wolf-aligned set.

  • Increase Melee Resistance when hitting enemies with finishers (two pieces)
  • Additional increase to Melee Damage (all five pieces)

12 Reaper Armor Set

The entirety of the Reaper Armor Set can be bought from Pierre, so acquiring it should be fairly simple enough. However, to purchase the items, the player will need to have enough Deniers, a new type of currency. The player can only collect Deniers by completing Rebel Missions.

Here is every piece of the armor set and how much they cost in Deniers:

  • Reaper’s Torso - 750
  • Reaper’s Helm - 450
  • Reaper’s Cloak - 450
  • Reaper’s Pants - 400
  • Reaper’s Bracers - Given for free automatically when the player reaches Infamy Rank three.

The player will need a total of 2,050 Deniers and reach Infamy Rank three to complete the set. This set falls under the Way of the Raven and slows time for two seconds when spotted by an enemy (with all five pieces equipped). It also increases their health by 15% with just two pieces equipped. This armor can help players turn the tide in battle and dominate an opponent.

11 Thor's Armor Set

Thor's Armor Set from AC Valhalla

The Thor's Armor set is a Bear-aligned set. The armor of the God of Thunder himself, Thor's Armor set is very efficient in rendering enemies utterly defenseless. It allows players to maximize their damage input while enemies remain helplessly stunned. This is the type of armor set players can use until the final areas of the game to remain strong and formidable.

This armor set provides players with an increase in speed whenever an enemy is stunned. It also increases the chance to stun. Defeat the Daughters of Lerion and reach Lerion's Tomb to obtain the whole set.

  • Increase Speed when stunning an enemy (two pieces)
  • Additional increase to Stun (all five pieces)

10 Mentor's Armor Set

Mentor's Armor Set from AC Valhalla stats

The Mentor's Armor set is a Raven-aligned set. The Mentor's Armor set gives any player a conventional "assassin look" they've gotten used to in the earlier games of the franchise. This amazingly designed armor set makes players a melee powerhouse and is perfect for powering through even the most tedious areas of the game.

This armor set increases the player's attack after every critical hit. It also increases the player's speed. The Mentor's Armor set works incredibly well paired with dual wields and weapons with a high critical chance.

  • Increase Attack after Critical Hits (two pieces)
  • Additional increase to Speed (all five pieces)

9 Hidden Ones' Armor Set

Hidden Ones' Armor Set from AC Valhalla

The Hidden Ones' Armor set is a Raven-aligned set. This classic-looking set is perfect for those who love the stealth gameplay mechanic. A real callback to the earliest Assassin's Creed games, it has a very sleek, sharp design supposedly made for the highest-ranking Assassins in the Creed.

The Hidden Ones' Armor set increases Assassination Damage when crouched and undetected for 10 seconds. Bow users and snipers will also love this armor set as it provides an increase in Headshot damage.

  • Increase Assassination Damage when crouched and undetected for ten seconds. (two pieces)
  • Additional increase to Headshot Damage (all five pieces)

8 Paladin Armor Set

paladin armor set ac valhalla

Each piece of the Bear-aligned Paladin Armor set is hidden inside various chests scattered all around Francia.

How To Obtain The Paladin Armor Set

  • Paladin Chainmail - The set’s chest piece is located in Defender’s Rest in Paris. It is inside a guardhouse the player can open via an opening on the side of the building. Before getting to the guardhouse, the player will need to find a key to open the chest. The key is inside a chamber filled with enemies the player can enter via a ladder.
  • Paladin Helm - The helm is in Pruvinis. It is inside a tower just northeast of Melun. At the base of the tower are explosive jars the player can trigger. This will open a section with another set of jars the player can also use to break another wall. Just inside is a chest that houses the helm. The key to the chest is just located inside this tower.
  • Paladin Hood - The Paladin Hood is in a crypt in Lisieux. To enter the crypt, the player will need two keys. One is in the church’s bell tower, and the other is kept by a monk that lingers in the village. Once the keys are acquired, simply head to the crypt and continue to find the hood.
  • Paladin Pants - The pants are in a large tent in the northwest part of Melunois. The key to the chest is kept by a Goliath, so the player will need to defeat this massive enemy first to gain access to this armor piece.
  • Paladin Bracers - Finally, the bracers are in the La Greve manor. The chest itself is inside a locked door the player can open by shooting it with an arrow from the second floor. The key to the chest is just on the balcony.

Equipping this armor set will increase the player's melee damage by 50, but an attack will also cost 5% more stamina. It also gives them a 70% adrenaline charge bonus and decreases stamina consumption for shield blocks.

7 Thegn's Armor Set

Thegn's Armor Set from AC Valhalla

The Thegn's Armor set is, without a doubt, one of the best AC Valhalla armor sets the players will ever stumble upon. This armor set encourages the players to be offensive and aggressive, the true Viking approach, and also encourages them to parry attacks more.

The Thegn's Armor set offers an increase in Critical Chance after landing a successful parry. On top of that, it also offers an additional increase to Critical Chance. Attacking more and more while donning this armor will see the player's critical hits grow, allowing them to defeat even the toughest enemies. The Thegn's Armor set is a Bear-aligned set.

  • Increase Critical Chance when parrying (two pieces)
  • Additional increase to Critical Damage (all five pieces)

6 Brigandine Armor Set

Brigandine Armor Set from AC Valhalla

The Brigandine Armor set is the most perfect companion when it comes to dealing with a large number of enemies, which occurs a lot in this game. It is designed with close combat with multiple enemies in mind. Players will find this armor set extremely effective in raids and missions.

This armor set increases Eivor's armor rating when surrounded by more than two enemies. It also offers an increase in melee damage. This is truly one of the best armor sets to don throughout the game, right up to its completion. The Brigandine Armor set is a Bear-aligned set.

  • Increase Armor when surrounded by more than two enemies (two pieces)
  • Additional increase to Melee Damage (all five pieces)

5 Iberian Armor

Iberian Armor Assassin's Creed Valhalla

The following five armor sets were added in the Wrath of Druids DLC. To unlock all five, gamers will need to speak with Azar at the Trading Post in Dublin. Eivor will need to trade a series of items to level up Dublin Renown, unlocking the various sets of armor for purchase. A fast way to get the resources is by completing the Royal Demands missions which are marked by a birdhouse symbol on the map.

RELATED: Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Wrath of the Druids - How To Get The Iberian Armor Set

At level one, players can purchase the Iberian Armor. The set provides three impactful buffs. Attacking after a dodge grants more damage, and Eivor will have higher melee damage and Evasion while wearing the armor. This one is quite useful for those who prefer stylish combat and survival since it heavily rewards dodges and evasion. This exotic armor is Raven-aligned.

  • Increase Attack (+15) after a dodge (two pieces)
  • Additional increase to Melee Damage (+10) and Evasion (+15) (all five pieces)

4 Egyptian Armor

Egyptian Armor Assassin's Creed Valhalla

At Dublin Renown level two, Eivor can purchase the Raven-aligned Egyptian armor set. Players will receive an increase to attack damage during daytime and a stacked melee buff. The Egyptian armor increases fire build-up resistance as well.

In terms of appearance, the Egyptian armor is not that impressive. The color scheme and mask look a little ill-fitting for a Viking, despite its uniquely neat themes. Still, the set is a viable option in Wrath of the Druids.

  • Increase Attack (+15) during the day (two pieces)
  • Additional increase to Melee Damage (+10) and Fire Build-Up Resistance (+15) (all five pieces)

3 Rus Armor

wearing Rus Armor Assassin's Creed Valhalla

By level three Renown, the Bear-aligned Rus armor set will be available for purchase. It is by far the most appropriate Norse outfit of the new sets. The traditional rugged Viking look suits Eivor. When equipped, the armor can increase attack damage by 20 if Eivor is surrounded by five or more enemies.

The set is incredible at controlling crowds and eliminating multiple targets at once. For aggressive playstyles, the Rus armor is one of, if not the best in the game. Armor and Melee Resistance bonuses make the set even better.

  • Increase Attack (+8) when surrounded by three or more enemies
  • Additional Attack (+12) bonus when surrounded by four enemies
  • Additional Attack (+20) bonus when surrounded by five enemies
  • Additional increase to Melee Resistance (+10) and Armor (+10)
