Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is loaded with challenging enemies to combat. Among these, some of the hardest are the Zealots. Zealots are warriors for the Order of the Ancients, a cultist group who have their loyal Zealots roaming around the world of Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Depending on the player's choice after defeating Leofrith, Zealots may actively hunt the player, or they may only attack if provoked.

Players will need to defeat all the Zealots in Assassin's Creed Valhalla to finish The Order of the Ancients quest. Redwalda is a lower-level Zealot with a power level of 90. Players are recommended to get Eivor to at least power level 90 before attempting this fight. Redwalda can be found patrolling the ruins of Venonis, northwest of Ravensthorpe, in Ledecestrescire. Players may use Odin's Sight to locate and permanently mark Redwalda's position if they need to return to this fight later.

All the Zealots in Assassin's Creed Valhalla utilize different combinations of weapons. Redwalda uses a Great Sword and a Shield combination to block attacks and counter with his own. Redwalda also uses two types of ranged attacks by using a spear or a tossed landmine. Landmines will stay on the ground until triggered. Players should come prepared with full rations and arrows to defeat Redwalda in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla.

Updated September 24, 2022, by Michael Llewellyn: There has been a lot of Assassin's Creed news in recent weeks. There is Assassin's Creed Project Red taking players to Feudal Japan, and then there is Assassin's Creed: Mirage set to launch in 2023. Mirage centers on the Assassin Basim, an important character in Valhalla's story. As such, playing Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is vital before playing Mirage if players wish to understand Basim's character development. Valhalla is a vast game full of lore, quests, and enemies. Some of the toughest fights in Valhalla are against The Zealots. Redwalda is one of these, and is a powerful enemy that requires a combination of skills and know-how in order for players to beat. For players returning to this game or experiencing it for the first time, this guide has been updated with some extra tips to beat Redwalda.

Recommendations To Beat Redwalda

AC Valhalla Redwalda

Redwalda's Location: Redwalda is found in Venonis, Ledescestrescire.

Recommended Level: The player can fight Redwalda at level 60, but Eivor should be at least 90-100 before taking on this enemy.

  • The Great Feather Rune reduces Eivor's weight and increases their speed.
  • The Great Rune of Rage to increase Eivor's attack by +4.
  • The Great Shell Rune increases Eivor's armor by +5.
  • Parry Damage: Successfully parrying an attack will damage Redwalda.
  • Fight Ready ensures that Eivor's adrenaline bar is filled before a fight.
  • The Brush With Death will slow down time after a successful dodge. This is useful against Redwalda because dodging is the best way to deal with Redwalda's attacks.
  • The Missile Reversal skill, found in the raven section of the skill tree, allows players to grab Redwalda's ranged attacks from midair and throw them back at him, dealing massive damage.

Different Approaches To Attacking

Defensively Distanced

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Players will want to approach Redwalda from a distance. Use an arrow to shoot one of Redwalda's weak points to knock him off his horse. Shooting a weak point will remove one of his stamina bars.

Players that go for a defensively distanced route should focus on shooting any weak points on Redwalda or aiming for the head. Playing at bow and arrow range will prompt Redwalda to throw his spear or landmines at Eivor. It's the perfect opportunity to use The Missile Reversal skill and throw his spears and landmines back at Redwalda.

Up Close and Personal

If players run out of arrows or otherwise prefer a more aggressive option, they can get up close and personal with Redwalda. Fighting up close means players need to focus on what type of attacks Redwalda is using.

If players see a yellowish glow above Redwalda's head, they should be prepared to parry the attack to create an opening to deal damage. On the other hand, if Redwalda gets a red glow above his head, then the next attack will be unblockable and players should be prepared to dodge Redwalda's attacks.

Players with the Brush with Death skill in the raven skill tree can slow down time when dodging just before being hit by an incoming attack, opening a small window to attack Redwalda. Successful parries and well-timed dodges followed up by a flurry of attacks or an adrenaline skill will help players in defeating Redwalda.

Redwalda and the rest of the Zealots prove to be challenging fights in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Zealots carry different combinations of weapons that will change their attack patterns keeping the fights interesting. Redwalda is one of many Zealots that Assassin's Creed Valhalla players must defeat on their quest to defeat the Order of the Ancients.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
