Fall is just around the corner, which means it is time to start getting a closer look at the inevitable next installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. It’s no secret that Ubisoft has some work to do to win fans of the franchise back after all of the problems with Unity, so Assassin’s Creed Syndicate comes into E3 under a lot of pressure.
In a surprising turn of events, Ubisoft showed up to E3 with a new cinematic trailer, rather than gameplay footage. The team explained that everyone at E3 can stop by the booth and get hands-on time with the game, but it seemed like a very strange decision to not put the gameplay on display while Ubisoft had the audience’s attention. Reports about the quality of the hands-on demos should arrive later this week, so we’ll have to wait until then to hear more about the gameplay.
Either way, the new cinematic trailer is similar to previous Asssassin’s Creed trailers and very impressive visually. This one offers a bit more plot while exploring the lower class of London and gives us a closer look at the two brothers who will be player’s guides through 1868.
One of the exciting opportunities about the setting of this game is that it will be the first modern era Assassin’s Creed. We’ll certainly going to miss pirating around the ocean like we were able to do in Black Flag a few years ago, but the introduction of the industrial era should lead to some new and interesting story and gameplay opportunities.
Considering details about the game have been fairly sparse so far, we can’t help but find it suspicious that the E3 presentation wasn’t more substantial. Syndicate needs to help the franchise turn a new leaf and make a healthy transition to the current console generation, so we are anxious to see more details about what the game has to offer.
Were you surprised that the presentation was just another cinematic trailer? Are you excited for Syndicate? Let us know in the comments.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 23, 2015.
