Along with the latest reveal in the series of teasers that Ubisoft put up on their Assassin's Creed Facebook page, has come an official announcement regarding Assassin's Creed Revelations. We now have an idea of when Revelations will release along with details of what gamers will have in store for them as they enter the next chapter of the story-driven franchise.

Assassin's Creed Revelations will enter the final chapter in Ezio Auditore's life as he follows in the footsteps of legendary master assassin, Altair - the protagonist of the first Assassin's Creed - on a journey of discovery and revelation. His travels will take him far away from Italy to the city of Constantinople at the heart of the Ottoman Empire.

The multiplayer experience that helped define Assassin's Creed Brotherhood will also make a return with more modes, more maps and more characters for would be assassins to test their skills with.

Desmond will remain another focus of the game's story with the ability to manipulate constructs of his memories and the Animus to decipher the mysteries of his own past while gaining insight into the future.

In order to keep fans from frothing at the mouth until an expected big reveal at their E3 press conference, Ubisoft has kindly given us a screenshot to help whet our appetites as we patiently wait for more details regarding the coming game [click to enlarge].

The screenshot shows a beautiful looking Constantinople with the Sofia Hagia standing tall in the distance. The Sofia Hagia was the building revealed with the third Assassin's Creed Revelations trailer in the series of teasers that led to this announcement. Ezio looks different sporting a brand new wardrobe, no doubt meant to keep him warm on his travels.

Game Informer is going to release a 12-page story on Revelations with their June issue. To help fans get in the mood, they've also released a few extra details about the game. All three of Desmond, Altair and Ezio will be playable in Revelations, which seems to confirm that Altair is making a return in a big way for this game. This might also mean that we will be exploring Constantinople in two time periods, with sections played by Altair revealing important clues or hidden items that Ezio finds in the future, relatively speaking.

Ezio will also have a new weapon and tool which will change the way that he fights and travels in the world of Revelations. Something which aids travel may confirm that the game will take place in several locations and not just in Constantinople, but that still remains to be confirmed.

Assassin's Creed Revelations is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal along with help from Ubisoft studios Annecy, Massive Entertainment, Quebec, Singapore and Bucharest. With so much dedicated to this title, it's to be expected that Revalations is a game that Ubisoft wants to shine, and not just act a placeholder while fans wait for Assassin's Creed 3 to finally be announced.

Alexandre Amancio, Creative Director at Ubisoft Montreal, was very optimistic about Revelations, confirming that it would be the last in the Ezio saga.

"Delivering the final chapter of the Ezio trilogy is an important milestone in the Assassin’s Creed franchise for us and for our fans. Assassin’s Creed Revelations includes lots of new features and some significant surprises. We can’t wait to show our fans what we have in store at E3 this year."

Since the launch of Assassin's Creed in 2007, the first three Assassin's Creed games have sold more than 28 million copies worldwide. Its no wonder with the series being constantly praised for its incredibly engrossing story and unique city exploration based gameplay.

Assassin's Creed Revelations is going to make our minds melt once again when in it releases in November of this year for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Expect more details to come when Game Rant goes to E3 this year.
