Assassins Creed Revelations Desmond Memory DLC

Despite a pair of multiplayer DLC packs, things have been pretty quiet on the Assassin's Creed: Revelations news front - as franchise chatter has graduated to theorizing about the inevitable Assassin's Creed 3.

While die-hard fans, and online multiplayer gamers looking for something other than run and gun FPS combat,  are likely enjoying both the Assassin's Creed: Revelations Mediterranean Traveler Map Pack and Ancestors Pack, there's little doubt that many Animus enthusiasts have been patiently waiting for more single player content. Now, thanks to a set of leaked achievements for the title, we know that campaign DLC is forthcoming - though it might not be exactly what players were expecting.

The list of Assassin's Creed: Revelations DLC achievements have been "officially" posted (but remain unconfirmed) over at the Xbox 360 strategy-site Xbox360Achievements. The list suggests that, instead of a third-person action side-story (such as last year's "The Da Vinci Disappearance"), the upcoming campaign DLC appears to primarily take place in new first person Animus Island memory sequences. At this point, it's likely that Desmond will once again serve as the player character (with the sequences revealing more of his past or future storyline) - though, it's certainly possible that gamers could play through memories associated with Animus "Islander," Clay.

In addition to the new DLC achievements, reports of an "Ottoman Edition" have been cropping up on international retail sites - which is an especially interesting (and, comparatively, premature) development. Normally, retailers release a "Game of the Year" type edition, typically including ALL of the DLC content, roughly nine to twelve months after the original title released - just look at the impending launch of the Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition.

While no official details have been revealed, the "Ottoman Edition" box art advertises (via South African retailer AWX) "Free Downloadable Content" and will, theoretically, release on March 16th 2012 (in international markets). That said, it's unclear whether or not this upcoming package is a definitive "Game of the Year" offering, a half-way point that includes all of the current add-on content (with more still to come), or offers new exclusive DLC (such as yet-to-be-revealed multiplayer skins).

The impending Memory Sequence DLC package hasn't been officially announced - so no release date (or official name) can be confirmed at this point.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is available now for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
