Assassin's Creed Revelations Animus Edition Trailer

Though we still have a little under three months until its release, the gaming public has been more or less inundated with information about Assassin’s Creed Revelations. While many of you fans are likely still scratching your head trying to decipher the mysterious adventures ahead, today brings us a somewhat different sort of trailer. One that details the bonus content available with the Assassin's Creed Revelations Animus Edition.

We already know a good deal about Revelations, like how the game's story will begin, many of the locations the globe-trotting killers will visit, and what time periods it will cover. The many teasers and trailers for Revelations have given gamers glimpses of the standard gameplay they can expect, various potential plot threads, and how the two might weave together throughout the experience.

But in a game franchise where more than a few story hints have been buried in secondary media, die-hard fans will likely be lining up to get their hands on as much extra content as possible. The Animus Edition looks to be just what they're looking for.

According to the trailer below, the Animus Edition will come packaged in a nifty reflective box meant to evoke the clean, dark interior of the series’ signature Animus Chamber. Along with the game itself, the package will include a 256-page Assassin’s Creed Encyclopediaa glossy paperback tome devoted to everything known about the franchise’s rather complicated universe and backstory.

If you’re still unclear about the interconnections between the Assassins, Templars, and the remnants of the [YEARS-OLD SPOILER REDACTED], it might be worth the price of admission just to get your hands on this Assassin’s Creed omnibus.

In addition to these, the box set will include a short animated film titled Assassin’s Creed Embers, which depicts the final adventure of Ezio Auditore da Firenze. The Animus Edition also gives buyers bonus in-game content, including an extra single-player mission (a jaunt into the dungeons of Vlad the Impaler), two extra multiplayer characters (The Crusader and the Ottoman Jester), the ultra-tough Armor of Brutus, and extra capacity upgrades for weapons like bombs and bullets.

Frustratingly, it's currently unclear if the Animus Edition will see a release in the United States. As of now, the only special edition of Assassin’s Creed Revelations available for pre-order in North America is the Signature Edition–which comes packaged with a model of Ezio’s signature, Da Vinci-designed glider.

Currently, the Animus Edition is being pre-sold in the UK and Europe for a cool £69.97. As such, people in the U.S. will probably see a price tag of around $100 (give or take) for the Animus’s extra-packed box. Hopefully North American fans of Assasin’s Creed will find out if they can get in on the fun within the next few weeks.

Does the Animus Edition’s trailer make you want to pre-order your own copy now, now, now? Do you think that the price is too high even for the extra amount of content? Free-climb your way into the comments and share your thoughts!

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will be released for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on November 15.
