Assassin's Creed Codename Red will take fans of Ubisoft's stealth-action/RPG franchise to Feudal Japan, and a new Unreal Engine 5 concept video by TeaserPlay imagines what the game's open world might look like. Assassin's Creed fans have been asking for a main series game set in Feudal Japan for years, and now Ubisoft is finally delivering one.

At the latest Ubisoft Forward event, the company paid special attention to the Assassin's Creed franchise. Fans were treated to the reveal of Assassin's Creed Mirage, offered more details on the Assassin's Creed Infinity project, and given their first look at Assassin's Creed Codename Red. Assassin's Creed Red was revealed with a short teaser that established the setting and featured a ninja assassin perched on a roof with a sword. It was enough to build up considerable hype for the game, and it's safe to say that Assassin's Creed fans are definitely looking forward to seeing more of the project.

Right now, Ubisoft is busy promoting Assassin's Creed Mirage, which is set to launch at some point in 2023. Considering this, it may be quite some time before fans of the franchise see Assassin's Creed Red in action, and so YouTube channel TeaserPlay has stepped up to provide a concept video of what the game might look like. TeaserPlay is a channel that specializes in creating Unreal Engine 5 videos for hypothetical gaming projects, though in this case, Assassin's Creed Red actually exists.

The video showcases what an Assassin's Creed take on Feudal Japan would be like if it were built using Unreal Engine 5, though it's unlikely that the real Assassin's Creed Red will use that engine. Ubisoft will likely use its Ubisoft Anvil engine to build the game, as it's done with Assassin's Creed Valhalla and is currently doing with the upcoming Assassin's Creed Mirage game.

This isn't the first time that TeaserPlay has made a video about an Assassin's Creed set in Feudal Japan. A few months ago, TeaserPlay made a video about Assassin's Creed Infinity (before it was revealed to be more of a hub than an actual video game), imagining it in a Feudal Japan setting. This video had quite the strong reaction, amassing over 2 million views and thousands of positive comments, with many wishing for Ubisoft to create an official Assassin's Creed game set in Japan.

With Assassin's Creed Red, fans of the franchise are finally getting their wish. First they can focus on the launch of Assassin's Creed Mirage next year, and then they can look forward to seeing more of Assassin's Creed Red in action.
