Assassin's Creed is Ubisoft's biggest franchise, and as such, it's a guarantee that a new game in the series is in development at any given time. Ubisoft stopped releasing new Assassin's Creed games annually to give the series a bit more room to breathe, taking 2019 off to presumably release the next game in the long-running franchise at some point in 2020. No official details on the next Assassin's Creed are available at this time, but the game is rumored to be titled Assassin's Creed Ragnarok, and a new rumor claims that its reveal is just months away.

Assassin's Creed Ragnarok will apparently be announced in February during the rumored PS5 reveal event on February 12, 2020. For the uninitiated, Sony is rumored to be hosting a special event on February 12, 2020 to reveal the design of the PS5 console along with some of its features. Presumably, Sony will also be revealing the first PS5 games at the event, and this new rumor says that Assassin's Creed Ragnarok is one of them.

Like with any rumor, fans should take this information with a massive grain of salt. The user who posted the rumor has had their Reddit account deleted, so the validity of these claims are even more suspect. Even so, there have been enough legitimate leaks posted on forums that the information can't be outright ignored on the off-chance that there is some grain of truth to any of it.

Besides claiming that Assassin's Creed Ragnarok will be revealed in February during the PlayStation event, the user made some other claims about the upcoming game. Apparently, Assassin's Creed Ragnarok will have a Viking setting (which has been leaked in the past and outright teased by Ubisoft in other games), and it's aiming for a fall 2020 release on both current- and next-gen consoles. The game's map will feature Scandinavia and parts of England, with players able to choose between playing as a male or female protagonist named Jora.

Assassin's Creed Ragnarok will reportedly bring back the Brotherhood recruiting system, which is another claim that was leaked previously. Players will be able to use a boat to travel by sea, and they will also be traveling to supernatural realms like Asgard. Players will reportedly encounter beings from Norse mythology, including Odin and Loki. It will also include present day sections, as is typical of Assassin's Creed games, if the rumor is to be believed.

Again, we must stress that fans should take this information with a grain of salt. While Ubisoft itself has teased that the next Assassin's Creed will be about Vikings, the other information in the leak could just be made up. We'll find out if there's any truth to this supposed leak come February.

Assassin's Creed Ragnarok is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
