The last few weeks have seen a slew of leaks pertaining to the new Assassin’s Creed title, and the latest scoop appears to confirm a number of story-related details that have been previously leaked out, as well as a late October release date for the game.
A redditor got their hands on an early copy of the new issue of Game Informer – which contains coverage on the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game – and posted two pictures onto Reddit. These two pictures seemingly confirm the new game’s title as Assassin’s Creed Origins and claim fans will be able to get their hands on it, barring any potential delays, on October 27.
The leaked pictures also contain two new taglines, “As an empire falls, a brotherhood rises” and “The brotherhood begins,” which strongly hint that the game will live up to its title as an origin story for the Assassin brotherhood. For those curious if there will be supplementary material released alongside the game, pictures reveal that there will be four different versions of Assassin’s Creed Origins available at launch, standard, Deluxe, Gold, and Gold Steelbook.
The Reddit user who leaked the Game Informer pictures also revealed a number of story and gameplay details for Origins, claiming that Ubisoft has been working on the game before Assassin’s Creed Unity and that it will take place during the ascent and reign of Cleopatra, all but confirming the long-standing rumor that the game is set in Ancient Egypt. While specific story details are being kept under lock and key, the Reddit user claims that the game will feature a brand new combat system which will be more hit-box driven, new A.I, and various tweaks to the usual Assassin’s Creed formula, such as puzzles, free-running, and exploration.
It was initially assumed that Ba Yek would be the main character for Origins but perhaps most interestingly, the Reddit user claims that there will be another playable protagonist, although details about this character are being kept secret. Whoever this new protagonist is, players will allegedly have more customization options for the character (or Ba Yek) thanks to a new gear, leveling, and crafting system.
While this leak (and the many that have come before it) has shed much light on the upcoming new Assassin’s Creed game, nothing has been confirmed by Ubisoft and this can’t be considered official yet. But with E3 2017 just around the corner, it won’t be long before the studio decides to finally come out and confirm (or deny) all these leaks.
Assassin’s Creed: Origins has yet to be officially announced.
