Ubisoft's bold decision to put an end to its annual release cycle for the Assassin's Creed franchise appears to have paid off. Assassin's Creed Origins releases today and so far has been a big hit with critics. In addition to various new changes and updates to its mechanics, Origins introduces a much stronger Role Playing Game aspect with a full fledged loot and progression system.

Unlike previous games in the franchise, gameplay is centered around the player's level, with a significant portion of Egypt locked out to low level players until new skills and levels are achieved. Player level also dictates what sort of gear Bayek can equip, with some of the more impressive weapons and loot available only at higher levels.

In order to help speed players along in order to unlock the best gear, or attempt the next quest, this Assassin's Creed Origins guide details the many ways to level up fast.

Quests and Activities

Like most RPG style games, players earn experience for finishing most actions in Assassin's Creed Origins from the big quests to the small activities. While killing enemies always nets a little bit of experience for players, undertaking quests is where the bulk of experience can be earned.

To locate available quests, players can pause the game and scroll to the Quests tab of the menu. Available quests not only show the level requirement needed to participate in them, but the total amount of XP that is earned for completing them as well.

Alternatively, players can call on Bayek's faithful eagle Senu to scout an area from the air. Not only can she tag objectives for Bayek, but new tasks, side missions, and other XP earning missions. These icons will also be added to the map tab of the menu as well allowing players to further examine them.

Forts and Captains

Certain zones within the world of Assassin's Creed Origins house enemy camps and forts. These special areas provide objectives for the player to complete, often rewarding a sizable amount of experience and loot. To view the objective, press the left analog stick which will then display all the things the player needs to accomplish to defeat the zone. Objectives may include tasks like killing the captain, or finding a certain number of hidden treasures.

Informant Table

There may be times when quests are not available due in large part to a level requirement that players have not yet achieved. If this happens, players should head to the nearest informant table to pick up additional missions not yet found on the map. Thankfully these items are marked on players maps but can also be found in towns as well.

Keep in mind that the missions these tables offer are often in line with the current level of the region, so to gain the best amount of XP, find an Informant Table in a zone that closely matches the current player level.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
