One of the worst kept secrets coming into E3 2017 this year was Assassin's Creed Origins, a game that seemingly had new detailed leak out each day leading up to the big show. While many expected the title to be heavily featured during Ubisoft's E3 press conference, Microsoft actually got the honor and showcased a new cinematic trailer along with a 5 minute gameplay demo.

Ubisoft previously confirmed that the next Assassin's Creed title would feature new gameplay mechanics and a greater focus on more lifelike worlds for players to explore. Based on the initial footage, the team appears to have accomplished that goal, as the initial town of Siwa features a host of NPCs walking around, tending to their daily lives. To help scout the town, Bayek calls upon an eagle which the player can control to highlight notable things including the position of enemy troops. For this demo however, the eagle is used to locate his main assassination target.

Another new change for the series is a greater focus on RPG elements. The 5 minute gameplay demo showed the main character Bayek finding new loot, in this case Amonhotep's Bow, a legendary predator weapon. Not only that, the demo featured a progression system, with Bayek leveling up as well. The demo didn't go into specifics about what leveling up means for the player, but a new ability point was earned along with a new bow.

It's Ubisoft's hope that with Assassin's Creed: Origins, players will be interacting more with the world. With this latest game in the series, Ubisoft has focused on making the world less scripted and more alive, placing a greater focus on freedom of choice. Expect to see more on this highly anticipated title tomorrow when Ubisoft takes the stage for their press conference.

Assassin's Creed Origins launches on October 27, 2017 for Xbox One, Xbox One X, PlayStation 4, and PC.
